Father Figure and Wood are my bottom 2 on the album.

I don't see it yet but I would assume Apple Music will get the clean version of the album too.

Wow, the Ophelia music video looks awesome. Here's an unofficial clip, until it gets taken down.

It hit No. 1 on Apple Music in over 100 countries in 7 hours and 50 minutes. All twelve tracks currently occupy the top 12 spots on AM.

Not at all surprising, given most people are streaming the whole album. Over and over

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I just got back from seeing the documentary. It was pretty good. The music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” is beautifully filmed. Taylor looks great and you see that she is very meticulous creatively behind the scenes. She’s very detail oriented on how she envisions how the video being shot and talks it over with the production team and the dance choreography. A lot of her dancers and crew from the ERAs crew reunited for this music video.

Aside from, the new music video, you see the behind the scenes footage and Taylor sits down talks about each track individually and the writing process. After she talks about each track, they show video montages with lyrics. You basically listen to the entire album.

This is really only for hardcore fans.

And if you refuse to go to a theater this weekend and are waiting for it to stream, think again. It’s very specific to this weekend and Taylor thanks everyone at the end for coming and says Have a great weekend. It’s not evergreen content like her concert movie.

The music video for The Fate of Ophelia officially drops Sunday.

And by the way, there is really no need to see the documentary on a premium screen. A standard screen is good enough IMO, especially if you want to save a few bucks since A-List isn't even accepted for this.

2.7M copies sold on day 1

When they say "copies" does that mean CD, digital and vinyl combined right?

Taylor "Gene Simmons" Swift strikes again!

Now on Taylor’s website: 4 New CD editions, each with unique bonus tracks

From her Twitter:

File this under “save your best for the finale”… I think my favorite moments from the tour were the acoustic surprises. So I went back into the studio with Max and Shellback to record acoustic/unplugged versions of a few of the Showgirl songs with brand new vocals and production! Cannot WAIT for you to hear:

❤️‍ Life Is A Song Acoustic Version with “Opalite (Life Is A Song Acoustic Version)” and “Ruin the Friendship (My Advice Version)”

❤️‍ Dressing Room Rehearsal Version with “Wi$h Li$t (Settled Down Acoustic Version)” and “The Life of a Showgirl (Dressing Room Rehearsal Acoustic Version)”

❤️‍ Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version with “The Fate of Ophelia (Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version)” and “Eldest Daughter (Now You’re Home Acoustic Version)”

❤️‍ So Glamorous Cabaret Version with “Elizabeth Taylor (So Glamorous Cabaret Version)” and Elizabeth Taylor (Original Songwriting Voice Memo)

Four limited CD releases each including two acoustic bonus tracks on my site now for 24 hours while supplies last.

Each of these ends up leading to a city-themed unlisted YouTube teaser video… of AI slop. Neat.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I have 100% not held anything against Taylor Swift for all of the variant-style packaging and multiple releases of her music. Make art, get paid, go for it.

I will say, however, that as the dad of a Swiftie who was so excited to go to Target to pick up the new CD last night on release day, I absolutely did not appreciate the email I received from Taylor Nation this evening, less than 24 hours after opening the new CD, which said for just 24 hours only that I can order a special CD release of the album with bonus acoustic versions of the songs, as well. The timing on that feels like such a cash grab and a slap in the face to fans who bought the record on day one, just the day before.

And again, I'm usually on the side of an artist doing whatever they want, but come on. Families aren't made of money. I'm just going to hope my daughter never finds out that dad got this email and I can slink away from this one.

“Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.” She’s getting closer to the tipping point. She’s still going to be immensely popular but there is a growing pushback to the commercialization. I was talking to my cousin last week. A Swiftie from the beginning as are her friends. Literally grew up with her (the same age). She’s just skipping all the releases. She said she will give her her Spotify streams but is done chasing the physical releases. Enough is enough. They skipped the movie to which I was surprised. They spent a small fortune going to the Era’s tour both years. It’s going to be the younger fans and their parents that will be the ones feeding the machine. I think many of the older ones won’t bother especially with the state of the economy.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I got the chance to listen to it this morning a few times. It’s…OK. I can’t say it’s derivative because it’s her style now but the album has the sameness that I think peaked with Midnights. It’s giving the fans more of that but not as good. I don’t know if it’s because her voice is softer through much of it but the drum machine and synths stand out more to me. Someone that’s more versed in the catalog would know better but it seems like this has the least guitar and live instruments than any previous album. Even the piano is mainly keyboards. I don’t think it's bad just the same. It’s weird having a thirty-five year old still singing about prom and second period and a 50 Cent song. I would hope that’s a piece or it’s bones that’s been sitting around for twenty years because if it’s new she’s running out of material. Might be anyway.

Let’s be fair — those three examples are all from one single song. She wrote one song about a regret she still has — and it might have been sparked by the recent death of the boy she sings about. It’s not like the whole album is about high school.
Now don’t ask me to defend Wood, because I can’t.

Curious to listen to the new Every Single Album podcast with Nathan and Nora’s reactions to the new album.

Thanks for the background. I still find it's inclusion strange but the context helps.

It's a beautifully shot video. The documentary showed how involved Taylor was in the production. She's very creative.

They actually played the video twice once at the beginning and once at the end after all the behind the scenes interviews and footage were shown.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I was wondering how they stretched a 41 minute album to 1:30 theatrical experience.
