Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Same goes for anything right? I've been to a Seahawks game in the 2nd or 3rd last row, but still got to experience the crowd and Noise.

I generally try to stay in the lower bowl part of shows, but if its a band you have never seen or want to see for the first time I'd go and experience it.
GA/Floor is no longer any fun for me, I need to sit down and enjoy.

I saw Elton at Dodgers Stadium had great seats, but also saw him at Outside Lands, and just went way to the back of the crowd and sat on the grass and enjoyed the show

Man, what a show, what a show. Really phenomenal. 3 hr, 15 min of solid music. Hits and deep cuts. A lavish production with dancers and cool set pieces. So many costume changes. I am so impressed.
Seats were pretty good, especially when she came out on the extended stage, which she did a lot.
Here's a few pictures

The annoying trend where people are not experiencing the exhilaration of the music and show and care more about documenting it on their phones

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I once sat next to a couple at Nine Inch Nails show who filmed the entire thing with a tablet in the air. The guy filmed the first half and she did the second part. The seats were lousy so all they were going to get were a bunch of flashing lights. My brother actually grabbed a phone out of the hand of a person in front of him recording at a Ghost concert and threw it across the venue. Not sure if it hit anyone.

I like how Bob Dylan and Jack White have you lock your phone away in a pouch when you enter the venue. Of course for show the size of Taylor Swift that would probably be a logistical nightmare.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I love the concept Taylor has for this tour of having two “surprise songs” done acoustically every night. And never repeating them “unless I screw one up”.
For my show last night she did “Our Song” on the guitar (awesome, my favorite early Taylor song) and then “Snow At The Beach” on piano. Before “Snow”, she started talking about Lana Del Rey but prefaced it by saying “She’s not here, so don’t get excited. We don’t do guests on the Eras Tour”. The very next night? She brings out Marcus Mumford to duet “Cowboy Like Me”.
But it’s such a cool concept that nobody is gonna know what she’ll play that night until she does. Makes each show just a little bit unique.

She's playing 88 songs, for 6.5 hours every weekend. I'm okay with her taking vocal rest on the ensuing five days.

She is like the WWE now where if you want to see the stars perform you have to pay extra for a ppv or her case a concert.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Maybe her longest relationship ever?

Now he will be freaking out if he is featured in a new song or album.

The split news comes as Swift is traveling the country for her sold-out Eras tour, at which the actor hasn't been spotted.

Entertainment Tonight was first to report the news.

Over the years, the famously private couple kept their cards close to the chest, with the English actor, 32, and Grammy winner, 33, deflecting about engagement rumors.

"If I had a pound for every time I think I've been told I've been engaged, then I'd have a lot of pound coins," quipped Alwyn previously to WSJ. Magazine.

"I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn't say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn't say," he added of whether he was set to walk down the aisle with the singer-songwriter.

Swift began dating the Boy Erased actor in 2016.

Six years is long enough for Swift to write a concept double album about her ex. Poor dude.

I hope she dates Marilyn Manson next.

I might even be interested in the album she makes out of that relationship!

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

She sure knows how to gouge her fans for every penny

$45 for a beige T-Shirt of her current tour?

Probably could get a knockoff at Etsy for $16

Have you been to a concert in the past 10 years? $45 for a headliner concert T is pretty unremarkable.

You ever buy tour merch? And good luck with cheap fake knockoffs after the first wash and it shrinks and fades.

I'd rather the artist I support is actually supported by buying AUTHORIZED merch. You prob get bootlegs too. Cheap-ass fake fans.

I want to say that the Iron Maiden tour shirts were $55, and after I got home I realized they were sized a little smaller than my typical Large sized shirts, so they don't even fit.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

$45 and that is without calculating sales tax and shipping and probably adds up to more than $60.

Free Shipping at $50. Everyone has to collect sales tax. Besides nobody cares. If the Concert shirt (which are completely in line with the price of Springsteen and The 1975 concert shirts I recently bought at Merch stands) is too expensive, then don't buy it. Seriously, What's your point?

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

News flash: Crappy knock-offs are less expensive than authentic merch!

If I enjoy a concert, I’m fine with buying an official shirt. I’ve worn a Penatonix tour shirt for years. It gives me good memories, and people see it and want to talk about Pentatonix. I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth out of that shirt.

Taxes in CA are different and we get raped here on taxes.

It better be sealed in plastic if you want it as a souvenir and never wear it.

Yeah, it's hard to knock her for the prices of the shirts. It's in line with what you pay for shirts and apparel from major artists in their merch booths/tents. Simple t-shirts run in the $40-$50 range. I've seen stuff like hoodies for over $100 more.

And, from what I understand, the venues take a cut of the merch sales. And so does the record company.
