She should release Karma as a single and a music video

It would kill when she plays it live on tour and a anthem that everybody can sing along to.

She is going to play it on tour. They confirmed that the VIP packages are named for songs that will be performed at the show.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

She re-released Midnights again this week in 4 digital editions with exclusive covers and a little one-minute interview about a particular song for each of the 4 editions for $4.99 each. Swifties did not seem amused as 3 of the 4 interviews had already been released and offered little insight apparently. She might be overplaying her hand with all these different covers and so on.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I just listened to Midnights on Spotify and while this is the first album of hers that I have heard I don't get the big deal. It isn't any different than all of the other pop music that is out there. Some of it doesn't even sound like a human being is singing.

Karma, Bejeweled, and Anti-Hero are catchy songs and there are maybe 2 or 3 others on it that are good or ok too.

New music video directed by Taylor. Lavender Haze, featuring unsurprisingly, lots of lavender haze. More of a glamour video than we are used to seeing from her.

I thought her boyfriend in the video was a Indian or Middle Eastern guy but found out it was a transgender model.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I assume she will not perform at the 2023 Grammies.

Maybe 2021 was the last time she performed live on TV.

I wonder if she lost any fans with her new record since it had more profanity compared to her previous work.

I don't care but then again she has mostly maintained a close to wholesome image and is not overtly sexual or vulgar compared to other pop artists.

Her last two albums were also Explicit, with F-bombs.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Taylor stopped by The 1975 concert in London during their mid-concert break to perform a couple of songs solo, one of hers, one of theirs. It’s pretty cool.

If she goes full-on smut I might start listening to her stuff!

C'mon, Tay-tay, do covers of "My Neck, My Back," and "Fuck the Pain Away."

Taylor STILL doing her first show tonight. Sounds like it's epic.
I'll see her in exactly one week. Can't wait.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I do think the format of the tour is really cool especially when you play that many songs, but comparing her to someone who is 40 years her senior isn't really apt.

The show was a little over 3 hours. Is she playing the songs in full or are some shortened / medlied? Is this a costume change type of thing?

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Forty-four songs seems like overkill.

Hell, I get antsy at concerts when the setlist gets over twenty songs.

Yeah, I can't imagine her not blowing out her vocal chords doing that many songs for this many shows.

From the Guardian review
The Eras tour, as a show, is possibly the best-case scenario for fan service. Those who battled Ticketmaster and won were rewarded with a staggering 44-song setlist (about twice the number in her previous shows), some cut second verses but no mash-ups, that lasted the length of the movie Titanic (three hours and 12 minutes). It was a flex of unmatched productivity – since her last tour in 2018, Swift has released four original albums (or, as she put it, “we added four new members to the family” with Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights) on top of two album re-recordings. And she dipped substantially into all of them. Going album by album (or, era by era) in color-blocked, outfit-delineated segments (including two sparkling bodysuits, a ballgown, two ethereal dresses, a one-legged snake suit, and the outfit from the 22 music video), Swift packed more than many TikTok speculators thought possible into one show, with almost no breaks and seemingly endless stamina.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

It seems she is doing two night stops for every show and 3 shows back to back in LA, Dallas, NY, and the really big cities and most of those shows are in NFL stadiums.

Only two back to back shows in Santa Clara in July.

If I had the money it looks like a fun show to attend but hoping she puts out a concert film on HBO or a streamer.

She looks like she wants to murder somebody on that big screen

If you are sitting that high up you are paying big money to watch TV and not see anything.

I'd stay my ass home if that's the only seat I was capable of getting.

She is only 33 and probably too early to be doing all of your career work in one tour.

She has to slow it down or she won't be performing like Mick Jagger in his late 70's though she probably has amassed a huge fortune and would not need be doing it that long.

That's what dumbfounds me about the prices people pay for those seats. If you're dropping a few thousand for good seats close to the stage, or some nice club levels, I get it. But these people are spending hundreds of dollars to sit in the top rows of a football stadium. But hey, as long as they can take a picture of the screen and put it on social media so all their friends know they were there...
