Quote: I think the new trilogy had potential but right from the start it felt a bit off.
Where have I heard that before?

Quote: Why didn’t Judy Greer do this movie? I know she was killed offscreen, which usually means wasn’t asked back or she didn’t want to, etc…do next one or last one for some reason.
She was killed... on screen.

Quote: I think the new trilogy had potential but right from the start it felt a bit off. I think largely because of how long it was set after the first film.
This trilogy would have worked a lot better if it did not ignore H2 and H20. There's no point in Myers going after a babysitter 40 years later if there's no family connection.

H20 still works. She tried hiding and that didn't work. So she spends the next 20 years getting ready.

Sigh

He didn't go after her. His doctor brought him to her.

I guess it gets points for being totally out of left field unexpected but man it left me disappointed. As ridiculous as Halloween Kills is at least it delivered as a slasher. Large parts of Ends didn't feel like a Halloween movie at all or very much like the Halloween season. It's like they really wanted to remake Christine but used Michael in place of the car. I liked the idea of a weak Michael getting a recharge from the kill like an old vampire who hasn't tasted blood in years and I dug the cool pumpkin credits even with the Star Trek season 3 blue text.

JLC and the actor playing Cory were good but the material is so inconsistent. Cory's Mom is over the top laughable like she's crazy mom from Carrie. Just about everyone in Haddonfield is a slightly less trashy Rob Zombie a-hole. Cory is introduced as awkward and sympathetic but they ditch that entirely after his run in with sewer Michael like he's been possessed. At least we didn't get a slug creature crawling out like Jason Goes to Hell but this movie feels almost as detached from the series as that one. A real headscratcher.

I disliked Halloween '18 and hate, loathe and despise Halloween Kills. I am saving Halloween Ends for one of those days that I hate myself and want to feel even worse.

Let your hatred flow from within.

This was like a pile of shit sitting atop another pile of shit. It’s like take 40 years of history and movies, a very basic premise and a legendary bad guy and change the formula that has spottily worked at times, on what a dozen or so movies?

C’mon. A protege? Barely any carnage by the Shape and hardly in it. It just seemed totally out of rhyme and reason for this series. And, that’s the most creative ending to come up with? No.

But, I guess it’s over. So, there’s that.

we’ll no, it was a glimpse from a memory shown for half a second. You don’t kill a major character over 2 films in a recollection. There’s something more to it.

The way Michael was killed and subsequently ground up was satisfying but the overall final showdown between him and Laurie was really pretty underwhelming in my opinion.

Quote: Part of me was hoping Laurie and Alison (by the way, WHERE did Alison's mom go???) would cut up Michael like a fish to make sure he was dead. S
Hard to take your opinion on face value when you clearly didn't watch Halloween Kills lol. After Michael was shot a bunch and beat up with baseball bats then shrugged it all off and killed the mob, he went back to the house and killed Alison's mom. That's how Halloween Kills is left.

Maybe it was due to very low expectations or not having to pay to see it (I have six months of Peacock for free) but I actually liked this one. It's definitely not what was advertised, but I liked what we got. At least it's not bonkers like Evil Dies Tonight -- err -- Halloween Kills. That said, I would have trimmed the DJ kill right after the scissors are shown. Also, I wish Will Patton had more screen time. It felt like he was wandering in from having just shot a scene or two on Yellowstone.

Yeesh. Was this ever terrible. All of these films just got worse with each release. I quite liked "H20" for nostalgia reasons, but it's been a shit snowball downhill since. I can't believe JLC is actually out promoting this worldwide.

I have never paid for Peacock and still got to watch this.

I think he means her onscreen death in Halloween Kills rather than the recycled snippets shown in Halloween Ends.

Felt bamboozled. Went in expecting a Michael Meyers VS Laurie Strode movie but ended up being a dumb kid possessed by Myers Love Story. There wasn't even a payoff I was thinking Myers was passing the torch and the kid would be the new Michael for the next Halloween.

The final "Fight" was the lamest in the whole series. Really have no clue how this got greenlit???
Probably why this got dumped on Peacock

Really interested in what Carpenter thought of this trash.

I was actually expecting an ending where it's revealed that the whole movie was Laurie's imagination writing a fictionalized version of events for her book she was writing

I actually Iike this movie up until the ending....that was so fucking bad. Fucking really? THAT'S all they could come up with?? I wanted Michael to kill Laurie and when I knew that was going to happen while watching the showdown, I was hoping they would kill each other.

Ugh, that dumb shit of carrying him off to grind him up just completely removed me from the film but like I said, I really liked it up until that point.

She was killed at the end of the second movie.

I thought the movie had some good ideas but they didn't work together nor did the movies work together as a trilogy, For example our hero states Meyers is just a man. He is clearly not just a man. If they wanted to make him just a man they shouldn't have showed any supernatural stuff.. I liked where they were going with nerd kid but they tossed it all away when they killed him without making sense of his relationship with Meyers. I thought the daughter was going to become the new Meyers or Nerd kid would if he hadn't die. The movie just wasted all that nerd kid setup. I mean at one point they show nerd kid healing by killing just like his big buddy Meyers. It would have been cool seeing a the movie pull a joker and having multiple put on Kirk masks seemingly infected my Meyer's evil made even stronger by the hate from the town. We get a old lady taking out a duded that survived being attacked by large mob, hanging, a fire death trap, being shot multiple times and old age has no effect on him. All this yet old lady was to much for him. This makes no sense. Why was he weaker?

I don't mind old lady taking out the big bad but a reason for it would have been nice. Like she could have destroyed the hate in the town that was fueling him. She could have put him in another trap. And why the hell didn't she prepare another trap for him?

The movie just didn't add up. It felt like there were multiple scripts that they tried to piece together but the person gluing the scripts together didn't read all of them.
