Isn’t Michael Meyers being the killer the central focus of the movies? Or are you referring to something else.

I'm sure he's talking about that other fool in Ends. I already forget his name.

Oh yeah that was completely forgettable, but I agree, that was a pretty bad development.

I rewatched this in October and while I didn't quite know what to make of it in 2022, found myself really loving it

I feel like if I tried to watch this again it would just fill me with rage with what the studio did to my favorite horror movie/killer of all time. 2018 was OK but the other two makes all 3 drop into the dredges of H6 and Zombie H2. Best forgotten from memory.

So that right there is probably why I was down with this. To me, the interesting thing about Halloween 1978 is the atmosphere, the music, and the meditations on the uncertain nature of evil (an idea shared with Carpenter's later The Thing and Prince of Darkness). II is neat because it really tries to mimic the first one's vibe, and III loks into a different kind of evil and leans into the history of the holiday. 4-Resurrection are just generic slashers that I don't give a shit about and don't have anything interesting to say. Ends gets back to that question of the nature of evil, with one foot in the '78 original's unknowable nature of evil, one foot in Zombie's deconstruction of what makes a killer, and combines them with III's shift in focus.

I was just too young, and not all that interested, in the 70s/80s slasher killer movies. When Halloween (2018) came out, I thought, hey, let's give watching Halloween in the theater a shot. This mentality, for me, is what A-List is made for.

What I mean is, Michael Meyers is clearly Michael Meyers, but there's also a mysterious "more" behind that guy and why he does what he does. Watching Corey "descend into madness" was a lot less satisfying than say, guessing who Ghost Face is in a Scream movie.
