The review embargo lifts at 3pm tomorrow. First showings start at 5pm. That’s a major red flag. As well as the simultaneous Peacock release. I have my ticket reserved for Friday and it’s full, but my expectations are super low.

I think to keep low is good advice. Especially after Kills, which blew. Watching it now just so I remember and only the recreated opening was decent. But, his kills are so much more brutal in Kills and without rhyme or reason. At least in the past 40 years we had Strode family.

Now, it’s a shell and lacks almost no connection in Kills. It’s a shame really that neither Green nor Zombie could reboot the series proper. But, always hard to do of course.

I’ll see this probably this weekend on Peacock and won’t shed a tear when the last minute rolls. This series has gone on way way way too long.

I’m going to the theater on Saturday. I’m glad this reboot trilogy is over. Maybe in 5-10 years when they reboot again, I’ll look fondly at the Green/McBride films.
At the very least we got some more tunes from John Carpenter.

I watched Kills last night to prepare for seeing Ends this weekend, and I was shocked how Michael was basically turned into zombie Jason from the latter-day Friday the 13th movies. I also have low expectations for this third one, but I've been pleasantly surprised many times, and Ends will only be the first Halloween I've seen new in the theatre since H20 (I consider the Rob Zombie one part of a different series).

You know, I just watched the extended edition and it wasn’t as bad as I remember. It at least adds more Strode/Hawkins exposition, which the theatrical sorely lacked. I thought this was more effective. Still out of character the brutality, but the ending wasn’t as bad or at least, made more sense.

If the leaks from a few months back are true, and it seems like they are, people are going to hate this.

Pretty sure I’m just going to watch this on Peacock. Doesn’t seem like a great sign that the review embargo doesn’t drop until basically the last minute. Plus the rumors about the plot aren’t giving me a lot of confidence.

So what are leaked spoilers everyone is talking about?

I will watch on Peacock. I haven’t been too impressed with anything David Gordon Green has done with these movies.

I used to enjoy him as a director.

Re: Halloween Ends (Green, 2022) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

It's weird how this movie basically has the weekend to itself. It's showing on an insane number of theaters here, despite being on Peacock. I think its per-screen average is going to be dismal.

Definitely sounds like the leaks are true. I’ve only listened to a couple short spoiler free reactions but they’ve all basically confirmed what’s been said. What a weird direction to go with the closer to the trilogy.

The spoilers I heard are
Spoiler:
Michael is terribly wounded by Laurie early on. The kid falsely accused of murder saves him and somehow uses him to kill people he was wronged by. I believe the kid also ends up posing as Michael for the finale.

Thanks. I never go on Reddit because i think the design is a mess.

Honestly. I think that story sounds halfway decent. Michael Myers was never really the interesting part of Halloween, because they never do anything with him differently.

This sounds like it could be a more entertaining movie overall.

So, the writers realized how much everyone just loves Friday The 13th Part 5 and decided to emulate it?

The beauty is I’ll continue to own the original and 2018 (and Season of the Witch, but that’s semantics) and they tell a perfectly good story on their own. I was waiting to see how this one panned out if I would pick it up along with Kills, but if the spoilers are true, these last two are best forgotten as are the original sequels.

I also own Zombie’s remakes but won’t stir up that can of worms anymore.

Wow! I saw the RT score when there were only 8 reviews and it was 63%. Not more than and hour ago. I thought that’s pretty decent, but no. It’s tanking in the reviews dept. Too bad, but not surprised.

Holy shit with this movie!
Spoiler:
There is absolutely no way the town goes back to a normal Halloween night one year after a few dozen people are brutally murdered. Also, what is up with Michael Myers: Sewer Thing? Has he been surviving on rat stew for the past few years? And how has he basically been living under their feet without being caught? Laugh out loud premise for a finale. It took some giant leaps and ended up with some broken legs.

Holy shit the Corry stuff is completely awful. Just dog shit bad.

There's about 30 mins of good movie in there with the the town going to shit and people blaming Laurie. That's good stuff. But then Corey fucks it all up. And Jesus did Allison turn into a moron.

I loved Kills cause it was insane and wanted to be. This is just awful.

Also watched it in an empty theater. We'll see if those projections hold.

Now that some of you guys have seen the new reboot trilogy, do you think that:

David Gordon Green is on the same level as a filmmaker as John Carpenter?

Absolutely baffling decision to go with this story for what should be Curtis’ final outing. So many terrible choices.

I do think that if you removed the Halloween mythos from the movie and developed this more, the concept would’ve been OK. Like a slasher version of Reckless.

What would have saved this movie, is a scene with Corey on the motorcycle with Myers riding behind him in a loving embrace. Cause how the fuck else did Myers get to these places with him
