Since when are Jawas considered bad guys? They are just providing a service. And wouldn't that make Lars a criminal and Luke a co-conspirator?

Good point. Maybe just a gentle "hand-service" then.

Great point. Screw it, let’s have a Jawas backstory and trilogy set of films. Me wants it.

Mod Warning: No. Your initial comment was a bit much, an Admin reasonably asked for a general chill out, you doubled-down and dismissed him. Nope, it doesn't work that way. Watch yourself here, MisterMike, and to be explicit: you, specifically, chill out with the objectifying of women or go do it somewhere else.

Everyone else: there are plenty of corners if the Internet for raunch, if that's what you really want. No need to post to the lowest common denominator or escalate.

Please can we just shift the conversation back to Carano's politics, where it belongs?

Actually, let's do a Jawas/Sand People trilogy and call it The Tatooine Wars! But with all practical effects!

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Just as an aside, it really gets under my skin when the movie is referred to as "A New Hope". Don't @ me with all the reasons why it is. I know and understand them all. I'm just old and don't like change. When I was a kid the movie was just called "Star Wars" and to me the movie will always be "Star Wars."

I heard a rumor that Geoge Lucas added a bunch of stupid CGI and added things to the OT in 1997 and then a few times afterwards.

Wait is the character or Rey really hated? I know people think of her as a Mary Sue but I thought she and Daisy Ridley were still popular despite the end of the trilogy.

It does raise some interesting questions about the dynamics of Tatooine. You have a planet with very little resources, and two native(?) sentient species of raiders and scavengers living in the same territory, competing for resources. Do they live under some kind of truce or treaty, or is there open hostility? Luke thought that the Sandcrawler in ANH (sorry, Rocket!) was attacked by Sand People -- thought it was quickly revealed to have been Stormtroopers.

I don't know if it warrants a movie, but it would have made an interesting subplot in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

I still only refer to the first movie as Star Wars. Not only was it not called A New Hope, it sounds stupid as well and doesn't exactly roll off the tongue either.

Star Wars, Empire, Jedi. That is how the holy trilogy is referred to in my house. And honestly, at times you could keep Jedi. Depends on my mood.

Everything else is just white noise to me, though I do accept Rogue One into my Star Wars world. Oh yeah, and the Andor show.

I hate all the prequel films and haven't seen the last recent trilogy since I saw them in the theater when first released and have never felt the urge to rewatch them.

I would love to see Star Wars at the IMAX but if it is the Special Edition version, I will pass.

Hated isn’t the right word. And, I never had any issues with the Mary Sue thing and honestly I can’t stand that phrase anymore. I mean, it’s true that Rey was able to do everything and anything the plot needed and it never seemed she paid any dues to get there. But thats just a total lack of character development & bad writing. My real issue with Rey is that she has no arc, no real story, no emotional swings and nothing to latch onto. The first time we meet her I thought they got off to a decent start. Her daily life on Jakku was well done at first. But it didn’t last long. Every 10 minutes or so she apparently found power-ups and just became stronger and stronger with everything. Her backstory was "trying to fit in". What is this, an ABC after school special or Hallmark channel production? . She’s just a boring character that was impossible for me to care about. Contrast that with the struggles Luke went through and his arc and you easily see why Rey is just meh. Yes, Moms and their 12 year old daughters loved Rey. That’s fine and touching. But her character sucks, nonetheless.

The sequels have a serious problem with character development and how they handled legacy characters. Poe could have been cool but they gave him nothing. Fin started awesome and I LOVED that he was a mercenary storm trooper with a goofy demeanor. They reset him three times and gave him nothing either. Poor guy got stuck with Rose Tico. Then, let’s not even get into how bad they butchered the legacy characters. Ugh.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Hey.

Do you need something that can be quick pick-me-up during a tough day?

Here's something I discovered in middle school and it still brings me joy to this day.

Type Star Wars on a keyboard.

See how you can type Star Wars with just one hand?

That's cool.

Try it!

Star Wars!

Star Wars!

Star Wars.
