Probably trying to (green) milk a few sales from the dried up teat before they release the original Original Trilogy next year.

Buy boots of the Harmy Despecialized cuts or the new Project 4K '77, '80, & '83. They are all fantastic. You can get them for free or just buy boots if you want physical.

My Harmy boots have every extra every released for Star Wars from the official releases and then a ton of other stuff never put on disc. I have always refused to buy the Special Editions. The only time I ever did was in they included the original in that awful quality. I ended up selling those long ago for a small mint.

And trust me, I am not a pirate person for music, books, movies etc. I prefer to support my hobby and the people who provide me entertainment. But if something is either out of print or made not available, I have always said, 'Fair game."

Keep in mind that there were already leaks showing that all 3 original films are getting 4K restorations of the original versions. There's video out on the web showing comparisons of shots.

Additionally, Disney/Lucasfilm have announced a theatrical release of the original, unaltered version of the original Star Wars next year, 2027. So a theatrical release is known, so it being followed by a UHD Blu-ray release is likely. It's not clear if they'll bother releasing the other 2 films theatrically, but they're not restoring the original versions to just sit on them, so at the least it seems like they'll get home video releases.

I posted a link to a Reddit discussion thread where the old Fox sets are OOP and going up in price, so resellers are making bank, and there's now bootlegs of those sets being made. It makes sense to satisfy the demand of people just looking to buy one of more of the trilogies as a set, and aren't doing much research.

Um, AKSKUSE me, but we have a forum rule to not discuss boots... Even though our sales team once sold an advert that was selling the otherwise unavailable Song of the South

OK, so looking back on this thread, I guess that footage wasn't ever linked to or fully discussed, so...

Or just not bothering to list them.

I think there's precedent for not listing special features, though usually it's under an "..and more" ellipsis.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

Harmy did some comparisons on his youtube channel of some of the leaked clips and the results are stunning. If they are truly releasing the original trilogy and are doing the top to bottom restorations for a physical release, they will easily blow almost anything else away and will be the best these movies have every looked. I was astonished at the differences when he compared the still frames.

The Blu-rays were straight garbage and the 4ks aren't much more than "acceptable." Not surprised the new clips look great by comparison.

Here's that video:

Note he compares between the official UHD Blu-ray, and the 4K fan project, with the leaked footage, and the leaked footage looks better than both, even though I believe all the leaked clips were HD. He also puts his Despecialized project on hold. Also, he made that video before Lucasfilm announced the official theatrical re-release of the original Star Wars in 2027, so some of his uncertainty in the video has since been addressed.

Didn’t the 4K set come with newer blu-rays that were better? No doubt the 4Ks were middling at best. I wish they’d redo the prequels with a proper restoration if in fact they are doing the originals. Rogue One is actually a good 4K disc as is though.

Id take new 4Ks of the special editions myself.

So not the OOT? I guess the odds weren't ever in our favor.

Again, the leaked footage shows restored OOT clips, and it's been officially announced that the original, unaltered Star Wars is getting a theatrical release next year, 2027. So the odds are very strong we'll get a 4K Blu-ray release of the OOT next year.

Star Wars Celebration 2027 tickets go on sale Wednesday May 6 at Noon

Anyone here have any interest in making the trip to LA next year? Or is this kind of event just not for you? I know coming to LA that weekend might be really expensive.

I’m going to try to go. I’m going to skip Saturday. That day will be nuts. Maybe Friday or Sunday for me. Or maybe Thursday since that is the cheapest ticket.

I want to go to at least one of these.

I haven't been to LA in years, but if I were to go back, there's about a hundred other things I'd rather do. The Lucas museum, for example, would be of way more interest to me.

Gina Carano says she’s spoken to Favreau and Filoni about possibly coming back.

It seems like she’s had a little resurgence in her career with her big Netflix MMA fight coming.

Good for her. She was run out of town for "reasons". Honestly though, what would she appear in? How many more Star Wars movies will there even be at this stage? I know they’re trying to keep milking the Grogu shit but really.

They’ve already scrapped the Rey Palpatine trilogy which is the right call. That character is as popular/desirable as rectal itching. Also have been numerous other cancelled or never-got-off-the-ground films and announcements. I just don’t see much need nor demand for more canonical Star Wars films. Now, if they managed to try one that took place way, way back in the timeline… maybe. Possibly. But that’s it and even then, it’d be risky.

Maybe she’d actually be a draw? A lot of people like her and/or don’t care about outside "stuff". I still feel Star Wars movies are going to be a tough sell but she’d be as good a choice as any to be in one of they tried.

Who would think someone as advanced and nuanced in her acting and MMA performances would be a bigot? I enjoyed her in Mando, but don't need her back.

Yes, people would definitely tune in to see Gina Carano's triumphant return to the Star Wars universe.

No she wouldn't. She was a signficantly worse actor than everyone else in The Mandalorian to the point that I found it distracting at times, before she ever did anything questionable off screen.
