It's broadly impossible to know the answer to questions like these. Vocal critics dominate on the Internet; vocals fans swarm appearances. And 'normal' people don't have an opinion and/or don't understand the question.

So... yes?

Some anecdotal evidence I've seen is that when little girls go to Disneyland they always swarm the Rey character actor that walks around. It may take a few years, but I think people will come around on her.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

The virtual queue has opened up for Star Wars celebration tickets with a countdown clock.

I'm hoping to get a ticket for Friday and Saturday. I know those will be the busiest days, but they will also have the big panels as well.

We'll see how it goes. I know the website will get slammed in about 30 minutes.

Got my tickets. It was a very long wait. VIP and 4 day passes sold out. I’m going on Friday and Saturday.

Very excited to experience this event for the first time. That weekend is going to be crazy.

All 4 days including VIP and 4 day passes are completely sold out as of 1 hour ago. It was crazy.

Oh they do - thats the demographic that likes Rey. All good, but then, they dont understand whats really going on story wise or have any actual character expectations.

I disagree that the character will somehow "age" well. The sequels are just divisive and missed a great opportunity. Rey was one of the biggest failures of the sequels. That never ages well, IMO.

The way the prequels have been reclaimed and are now beloved would suggest that you are wrong about this.

I, a man pushing 40, like Rey. I think she's one of the strongest parts of the Sequels and I like how they use her to reinforce the message from Empire that the Force works on belief, not experience. I love her search for identity (until RoS) and how she views the same characters as legends that we do, along with her endless optimism. A lot of people said Anakin was one of the biggest failures of the Prequels. A sizeable portion of the audience now praises his performance and story arc (not me).

Yes. Really. When I ranked the Star Wars movies on my TikTok last year, I got tons of shit for calling Attack of the Clones the worst (might've had it tied with TROS) movie. If you're interested, look into the "Reaction" subculture on YouTube and there's a fair amount of people seeing the Prequels for the first time and they're digging them. Now, how much of that is played up for views, I don't know. But a lot of people who grew up in the late 90s/early 2000s view the Prequels as "their" Star Wars. On IG and TT, I've seen easily hundreds of comments calling Revenge of the Sith the best Star Wars movie.

Interesting. Well, I guess there really is no accounting for taste.

I talked with some twentysomething guys recently that my son is friends with, and they had a similar reaction when I slammed "Revenge Of The Sith." They didn't seem to feel the same way about the other two prequels, but they really seemed to love that one. But they mainly just discussed how much they enjoyed a flipping Yoda and the Anakin/Obi-Wan battle. Other than that particular movie, I haven't seen many mention the other two, which is why I was surprised by the "beloved" comment. Though I can't say I seek out the comments or really pay a ton of attention to Star Wars nowadays other than what is posted around here...which is mainly by cranky old men.

I pay minimal attention due to my love for it as a child but as the years have gone on, the originals not being available, the prequels disappointing me so much, the recent trilogy being uninteresting to me and then the hot and cold TV series, I just can't bring myself to care as much as I once did. Hell, I sold all my original toys that I had as a kid a couple of years ago and haven't regretted it.

It seems like everyone is supposed to adore Revenge Of The Sith, going as far back as when it was first released. I remember not being impressed with it in the theater and then coming on here and seeing vast amounts of praise for it. But the praise always seemed like people were trying to make up for how awful the first two were and how Revenge wasn't as bad as those. I recently tried to watch the prequel trilogy and found Sith to be pretty much on par with the other two...meaning just as terrible. But to each their own.

I will say that it was fun being able to take my kid to various new Star Wars movies when he was young. As a kid, he never got into the universe as I did at the same age, but we still had a good time going to them, even if we both didn't enjoy them all that much.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

I think Revenge of the Sith stinks just as much as the others, but you're right that that one is considered the crown jewel. It made $40m in one week when they re-released it last year!

And even if the other two movies aren't as beloved as Sith, there's also the Clone Wars cartoon to consider. It might be more popular than any of them, and those characters, or more specifically those versions of the characters, are the ones that resonate with Millennials/Gen Z. It's all about what you grew up with.

Are the Clone War cartoons as good as some purport them to be? That is one section of Star Wars I never checked out but probably need to give a shot, though my stamina for animation has really gone downhill over the years for some unexplained reason. As mentioned before, my son just wasn't into Star Wars that much as a kid, so those cartoons were never playing in the background like say, Ben 10, Regular Show, or Adventure Time, etc. which he was obsessed with all for a time.

And I agree with you. It is all in what you grow up with which explains my love for Krull, Flash Gordon, Popeye and The Pirate Movie.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

There has been a clear reframing of the PT as the group of people those movies were made for has aged. Those are the people that do the TikToks and have the YouTube channels now. They love the PT's, appreciate the OT and despise the ST. Hell, I even see lists that don't have ESB as the best movie in the franchise! I can enjoy parts of them, and in fact like parts quite a bit, which I can't say for the ST.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread

The Prequel Trilogy is unique insofar that is of the three trilogies, it's the only one where the third is movie is the best one, and not the worst by far.

I wonder how Mandalorian & Grogu will stack up against Rogue One and Solo.
