Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread
I would believe that you found a set in a little free library.
Just 2-3 years ago I was at a Savers thrift store and looking at the DVDs and saw a Star Wars trilogy set on the shelf for $3.99. I didn’t think much of it because I have the silver box DVD set and the first Blu-ray set of 1-6 but something compelled me to pick it up. Maybe it would have been a cheap, quirky set to add to my collection.
I slid the discs out and nearly had a heart attack; it was a slim case release of the limited editions, the SE version on one disc and the unaltered version on the other, for all three movies.
There was nothing on the outside to indicate it was the Limited Edition so the sorters at the store just put it out with the rest.
I ran over to my wife with that box acting like I’d found the golden ticket.
So yeah, I can believe a similar set being tossed in a little free library by somebody who didn’t know better.

I'm on a Star Wars celebration Facebook group (I think I mentioned it earlier) and it has 75K plus members. Feels like every other person on that group is and has flown to Tokyo for SW celebration this weekend. There are some really hardcore fans who are even willing to travel outside the U.S, to a new country to go to this event. It's kind of fun following everyone's excitement. But, man, the event is 3 days and including flights, hotels, admission, autographs, photos and shopping, you're going to spend thousands at this event. And that doesn't even include food. I would love to go to a big international event like this, but you need to save. You can't go cheap on this.
Here are what the badges look like that I saw posted. Looks cool.

I mean going to this event will easily cost you a few mortgage payments. And that's on the cheap side.
Like I said in a different thread, Cons or Fan events like these are not for everyone. They are super expensive and most of the time very crowded. Flying to another country to attend one of these is a big financial commitment for a "hobby" You really have to be a hardcore fan.

As expected, no premium screens for Revenge of the Sith, but it's still on a decent sized screen, will likely catch it next Thurs.

Hoo boy, I sure hope they compensated Jed Henry for those in some manner. I know they don't have to, since it's their IP and his is fanart, but it's almost a complete copy of his "thing". (Seen here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CifpjGOp...en&img_index=8)
From what I can find, they were commissions from another independent artist.

Born in the northern region of Hokkaido, TAKUMI began his career as an illustrator after winning the “Weekly Shonen JUMP” Rookie Award in 2012, and has since worked on official merchandise designs for several artists and in Japanese anime. TAKUMI has a deep interest in the modern iteration of ukiyo-e and has created official promotional art in that genre for Marvel’s Thor: Love & Thunder and Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian season three.

They just interviewed Filoni and Pedro Pascal about Mandalorian and Grogu.
I never noticed this before, but Pedro Pascal is very nervous and awkward when he's being interviewed.

They announced a Darth Maul animated series last night. Unfortunately they also pulled the live stream. I was only able to watch about 3 hours before I had to sleep.

I’m here in Tokyo about to watch the Orchestral presentation of ROTJ. We managed to be in the live panel of Andor yesterday at the SWC2025, so this wraps up the Star Wars events of this trip.

They just announced that Star Wars Celebration 2027 for the 50th anniversary will be in Los Angeles at the LA convention center.
Holy shit that’s going to be absolutely crazy. I’m going to try to get to that one for at least one day. But, it’s probably going to be a Zoo. I might have to take an Uber or public transportation to that one.

Yeah I've gone to LA Comic Con since 2021. Only once did I go on Saturday. That day was a Zoo and it was next to impossible to find parking. The convention center lots were completely full. I had to pay $40 to park at Crypto.com arena. I can only imagine how absolutely insane Celebration will be in 2 years with parking and traffic. Hotels near there will probably be completely booked.

Carlton and Nick Cuse (father and son) are developing a Star Wars TV series. Nothing is known about it at this point. So, this is probably a few years away from potentially happening.

Not sure why they keep calling 2027 the 50th. It should be the 30th, who wants to celebrate an embarrassing film that wasn't finished until 20 years later?

Saying that downtown Los Angeles will be a zoo due to the SW celebration is probably the understatement of the year.
I will remain content watching the interviews on YouTube, as I am not bold enough to try and grab tickets and a room.
I really hope you can get tickets, as I am rooting for you.

Re: The General Star Wars Discussion Thread
Just got back from seeing the re-release of Revenge of the Sith. It was a pretty packed audience.
Anyway, there was a short introduction from Hayden Christensen at the beginning thanking the audience for coming to this 20th anniversary screening.
I hadn’t seen this since the initial BD release. I did see it in the theater 20 years ago. It was fun to watch it again. This was by far the best of the prequel trilogy. The light saber fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan was an incredible sequence.

I think saw stories online that the estimate BO for Revenge of the Sith as 18-20 million. That's insanely good for a 20 year old movie. I might try and get to the theaters tomorrow to see it. My closest theater has one screening on their large format screen at 12:30 so I hope I might find time to go.
