Plus I would think that 65 - 75 year old women in 1962 were a lot more older/frail looking due to quality of life/medicine compared to 65-75 year old women today.

I always thought it was an unnecessary crutch to have to have Spidey always run away because aunt may fainted or something. A younger Aunt May in her 50's is possibly more related to today's generation? She can still have health concerns but balanced with some kind of modern active lifestyle.

On top of that there are still the other life issues like paying the bills, getting a minimum wage job to support her and Peter... which I think Sally Field did in ASM2 if I recall.

Motley Fool looks at how both Disney and Sony can win big with Spider-Man:

http://www.fool.com/investing/genera...th-spider.aspx

Take heart, Spidey fans. Your favorite web-slinging superhero may still be in line to receive the proper big-screen treatment he deserves. In this case, that could be a huge catalyst for investors in both Sony (NYSE: SNE ) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS ) .

Despite the fact Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion in 2009, Sony still holds the film rights to Spider-Man. And it's no mystery Sony Pictures has made a bundle in its attempts to capitalize on those rights, generating nearly $4 billion in gross box office receipts from five separate films featuring the character since 2002.

Holy shit that sounds awful. Maguire vs. Garfield? Stone as Carnage? No way that is real.

Yeah I just deleted it when I saw the date 1/5/15. The hacks happened before that in mid November, so I just took it down.

Good catch. I was along for the ride of it until that shit started to be said.

I would assume that potential meeting would be happening soon though.

Yeah, the summit is happening this month. Anything that has Marvel involvement is A-OK with me, as well as the Russos directing. & Raimi producing. Arad? Garfield v Mcguire? Insanity.

They need to get JK Simmons back as Jonah Jameson. That's the best casting ever.

If Marvel could take ANYTHING of value from Raimi or Webb... J.K. Fuckin' Simmons was easily the best thing out of all the Sony Spidey films to happen. He WAS Jameson. That Flatopped motherucker.

Um, he was the best thing of only the Raimi movies. He never appeared in the Webb films.

I would not watch a solo Aunt May movie, but I would watch a solo J Jonah Jameson movie if JK Simmons was cast.

Probably could have worded it better. I meant that he was the best thing from the whole Sony property.

I dunno about you guys but Simmons, to me, sounded exactly how I imagined JJJ to sound like. Did anyone think he'd sound differently before we got Simmons?

To clarify, out as co-chairperson, but she'll transition into a producer role in her own company and still be and have producer's say in future Spider-Man films.

Yes, it was announced today. Looks like the powers that be, probably being her friend's at Sony Pictures, let her save face by moving elsewhere in the company. I suspect not many studios are going to hire her for similar work now.

Boom.

Marvel's Kevin Feige to Produce Next Installment of the Spider-Man Franchise with Amy Pascal

(Culver City, California, and Burbank, California February 09, 2015) – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man.

Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.

Still not sure about the Sony movies, but the move into the MCU is the right direction. So does that mean Spidey will make an appearance in Civil War?

Wow, quick thread title change! Was just going to say that it sounds like another reboot given the wording. I just hope they don't do yet another origin movie.

Sony will have final creative control. I don't like the sound of that.

That was Thor 3's release date wasn't it? (I imagine they'd move it a bit) Maybe they'll be able to introduce the new Spidey in Civil War?

They're smart enough to work with Marvel, so hopefully this is a new direction for them. Plus apparently Kaz Hirai was pissed they couldn't come to an agreement earlier, at least that's what some of the leaked email reports said.

You're right. That is/was Thor's release date.
