Any sequels will be like this one. Technically made by Sony, but really a Marvel Studios film.
Despite what Pascal said a few weeks ago, the "spin-offs," like Tom Hardy's Venom movie, aren't connected to Homecoming and this version of Spider-Man and are therefore all Sony.

Saw a bit ago and I wondered where is his spider sense. Then I read something about doing things we have seen before. You mean HIS POWERS!!!!

And I hate to say it, but organic web-shooters make so much more sense than some teenage kid (however brilliant) coming up with something like that web-fluid.

Only if the webs came out of his ass. Otherwise, I don't think mechanical web shooters are that unrealistic considering the backdrop of multiple alien invasions and mad-super-science-run-amok that makes up the MCU Earth.

Exactly - nothing about Iron Man's suit or Captain America's shield obeys the laws of physics. It's a different world where a teenager could invent such an extremely advanced bit of technology.

As much as I liked this; I do understand the feeling that his new suit was a little much like Iron Man...

This film may have had a jarring second weekend drop, but it has quietly snuck up on the box office and crossed 300 million domestic...nice to see the film have legs. Deadline reports in opens next in Japan with China on deck in September. Between Japan and China it probably has another 70-100 million to add to the till, so it will most likely have a world wide gross that is 50-100 million higher than ASM 2 from a few year back.
Higher domestic, slightly higher worldwide gross, and unlike the critical drubbing ASM 2 received, a nice and fresh RT score, so I would say Sony is very pleased that their efforts to get the franchise back on track by crossing over into the Marvel Universe proper bore fruit. I know that this is the first Spider-Man film in a long time that will be a pleasure to watch again on home video/Netflix/cable.
Edited to add: My post makes it sound like the film has been out for longer than 5 weeks, it just felt like more time had passed because outside of this forum their has not been a lot of chatter...still, anytime a film can cross the 300 million mark is great and places it into Blockbuster movie territory.

Yeah, releasing during the summer generally means really strong mid-week. It opened to $117m then made an additional $46.1m from Monday - Thurs of the week that followed.
5 weeks is a long time for a major motion picture.

It's still the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie though, worldwide. I'm sure it will pass ASM2, but not sure about the others. Don't get me wrong, the numbers are good. I'm sure Marvel and, especially, Sony, were expecting much more though.
