Netflix streaming
Is Priyanka Chopra a big deal in the U.S.?
Maybe she has more international fans but people in the U.S. don't care.
Celine Dion warning if you hate her avoid this since her music is all over the soundtrack or score.

Sisu Vudu 4K
Jorma Tommila. Directed by Jalmari Helander 2023
When an ex-soldier who discovers gold in the Lapland wilderness tries to take the loot into the city, Nazi soldiers led by a brutal SS officer battle him.
Back in the day, the best "Comic Book Movies" (I'm thinking "The Road Warrior", or "Robocop") were not based on actual comic books. "Sisu" is probably the best Comic Book Movie I'll see this year, because I don't see Marvel or DC topping it. I was reminded of the work of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson on "The Punisher". The action is over-the-top and wildly gory, and it has a wicked sense of humor, but it never mocks its heroes or the situations. I had a Vudu credit to get rid of, but I'll buy the 4K disc when the price is right.

Deception (2008) — Seen this one twice now (last time was probably when it was released on DVD) but decided to give it another shot as I don't recall being all that enamored with it. This time, I did like it a bit more but still not a great thriller, but made watchable with Hugh Jackman in a villain role. Ewan McGregor was alright as was Michelle Williams, though neither were great. Still, worth a rental. ***¼/***** (Blu-ray)

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I just watched Scream 3, 4 and 5 tonight. I hadn't seen the third one since its original release. I remembered the motive for the killer but not who was doing it. Parts four and five were first time watches. I really enjoyed them. Kinda bummed I never watched them sooner.

I've been on a The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs binge. I've watched Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Scare Package, Hellbender, Witchboard, The Mutilator, and The Babadook (all of which I've seen before). I enjoy his commentary and I loved his thoughts on what The Babadook was really about. I had never thought about it the way he did but it made so much sense.

I posted my own thoughts about "The Babadook", prior to watching the episode. I think Joe Bob's take does make sense and is closer to what the director was going for, which may be why the film is so divisive. It's not Fantasy Horror, but more Psychological Horror and played so authentically that's uncomfortable to watch.
I had tried to watch the Valentine's Day special, but the second half had been removed since Shudder no longer had the rights to "Nekromantik". I've been told that there are a couple of specials coming up, -Halloween, and there's usually the Christmas Charity episode, -but I haven't seen or heard anything directly yet. I can't imagine the ongoing strikes would affect anything.

I'm currently doing a month of Shudder so I can watch the current season of The Last Drive-In. If the movie is new to me and I want to watch it, I've found it best to watch separate of the show.

Since I do the October Horror Movie Challenge I'm trying to not watch anything new to me until then. Also, some of his stuff counts for the challenge so I like to save those episodes until October.

I wonder when we'll get "Maxxxine", the third in Ti West's series with Mia Goth. We got a teaser early this year.

HBO
Maybe I was entertained or kind of liked it it back when I saw it in the 90's but it does not hold up.
Surprised Danny Boyle directed this.
Cameron Diaz in her underwear or if it was a double was a nice scene and some of the music was ok but the rest just meh.

1995
Back in 1995 when Hollywood made erotic thrillers
Maybe Friedkin wanted to explore his horny side but this was not very good and not a good sign when David Caruso plays the lead.

Just one long extended scene with Linda Florentino or her double sitting fully nude on the chair should be a part of it.
Maybe the only good part of the movie.

Shin Godzilla FUNimation Entertainment Blu-Ray
Directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. 2016
It's a peaceful day in Japan when a massive, gilled monster emerges from the deep and begins tearing through the city, a monster that evolves into ...Godzilla.
I wish I could say this movie worked for me. I had watched it a few years ago and forgot a lot of it, but the teaser for "Godzilla Minus One" provoked me to give it another try. This "Godzilla" story is told from the point-of-view of the Japanese bureaucrats that have to deal with an attack by giant monsters, which is a clever approach, but it goes on for way too long. There are scenes of Godzilla and the resulting carnage that are terrific, and other scenes where the creature is stiff and expressionless, and just seems like a Halloween costume. I also thought they gave "Godzilla" way too many random powers, like suddenly his tail can fire a laser-beam.

The Hidden (1987) Kind of cheesy, at times, but overall I thought it was pretty good.

I did not think it was that bad though it seemed kind of similar to Meet the Parents.
They could have gotten somebody more attractive than Leslie Bibb however.
She has not looked the same since Iron Man and Talladaga Nights.

Glad I never bought a Poltergeist box set if they ever made one with all 3 movies since the first one is the only good one.
The scene with the braces and Craig T. Nelson barfing out that worm was disturbing but that was it.
