Run (1991)...Such a fun movie and as adrenaline inducing as I remember. Dempsey plays desperation well. Love the cheesy end kill scene.

The Deadly Affair - 3.5/5
A British homeland security agent who while under investigation for being involved in pro-communist activity as a youth takes his own life. While investigating the death, another agent interviews his widow and becomes suspicious of murder. Good, lesser known cold war spy drama/thriller from Sidney Lumet.

The Devils - 5/5
In the 1600's a Catholic priest tries to prevent the Catholic Church together the monarchy from destroying a city in which Catholics and Protestants live together peacefully. In a political move to get the priest out of the way, he is falsely accused of witchcraft by a group of nuns, who through coercion by his enemies claim to be possessed by demons. Ken Russell's masterpiece about the evils of what happens when church and state can not be separated is one wild ride filled with bombastic visuals and sheer insanity. Oliver Reed has never been better and Vanessa Redgrave shows why she's one of the all-time greats.

Miss Sloane -- B (Jessica Chastain is fantastic in it, but it's a very political movie and for me and probably others, politics doesn't really interest me)
Assassins Creed - D- (Terrible adaptation of a pretty popular video game series. Convoluted mess. Some decent action and period scenes, but I couldn't tell you what the point of this movie was)

Yeah, I own Conversation and Blow Out. They're fantastic. I always pair The Conversation with The Secret Lives of Others due to the nature of the plots -- very similar.

The Girl with All the Gifts...what a fresh take on the zombie genre. Creepy and scary and different, but definitely elements from other zombie movies. Day of the Dead certainly. Really good stuff and I love Gemma.

The Convent - 4/5
An American professor goes to Portugal with his wife looking for documents to support his thesis that Shakespeare was not English, but a Spanish Jew who left his homeland to escape the inquisition. Their research begins at a convent that contains an old library and is run by a group of strange characters who may have ties to the supernatural. An interesting atmospheric film about the price people are willing to pay for success.

Bitter Moon - 4.5/5
For their seventh wedding anniversary, an English couple whose marriage is on the rocks take a cruise to India. On the ship, the husband meets a crippled middle-aged American writer and his sexy younger French wife. The two men form some kind of love hate relationship as the older man tells the younger the story of how falling madly in love with his wife was the cause of his downfall. An honest, brutal and disturbing look from Roman Polanski at what happens when people fall out of love but stay together for the sheer enjoyment of making the other person miserable.
