Acts of Violence (2018) — Part clunky, part entertaining (in a bad way), this is a forgettable action-thriller with yet another lazy performance from Bruce Willis who probably spends 80% of his screen time sitting behind a desk. This is a title that will end up in some bargain bin in the near future. 2.25/5

Saw this in the theater twice. Once on a whim with moviepass, then the second time on a business trip for a double feature.

Night Creatures (aka Captain Clegg) - 3/5
Not a really a horror film, but more of a Hammer period piece. Worth watching for Peter Cushing in a pretty good dramatic role

I watched Tomb Raider today. It was $5.50 discount day at the theater and I was waiting on a tire repair at Discount Tire so I decided to go watch Tomb Raider to kill some time. I enjoyed it. It was much better than the Angelina Jolie movies. 3.5/5

Pitch Perfect 3...this was bad. that whole John Lithgow kidnap story like was terrible and just to fill out an already short movie. god, without it this would be what 75 or so minutes. end song was ok, but 1 was nice and i'll stick with that...

I watched Pitch Perfect 3 today and I liked it better than OldBoy. There was one plotline that I would have deleted otherwise I liked it. It is definitely the weakest of the three movies though. 3/5

Nightmare - 4/5
A young girl at boarding school who witnessed her mother murder her father is sent home due to her frail mental condition. Are the horrific things driving her mad visions of the past or ghosts of the present? Pretty good Hammer psychological thriller. I actually liked this one better than some of their horror films.

The Last Movie Star (2018) — Great movie with wonderful performance from Burt Reynolds even when the dialogue was a bit too hammy. Beforehand I was afraid this would follow similar beats to The Hero starring Sam Elliott but there's more than enough differential that it does work on its own as well. 4.25/5

Atomic Blonde - HBO. I thought it was great and even though I knew it was supposed to have some really brutal fight scenes I was still pleasantly shocked as the fights progressed in the film.

American Made...so much fun. Tom Cruise makes this movie lively and Liman makes it so much fun. just fun to watch and see the history, as twisted as it might be.

Ready Player One. This was indeed a fun film to watch on a Cinemark XD screen. Like many others I plan to pause the 4K UHD a ton to focus on what I missed. I could swear I saw Battletoads and tons of other video game characters from plenty of games that I never played but was well aware of growing up.

The Evil of Frankenstein - 2/5
One of the lesser Hammer efforts, with a script that's all over the place. Not even the presence of Peter Cushing can save this one.

Girls Trip - HBO.
Okay, it was fine but a bit all over the map running the gamut from funny, touching, and gross.
I kept saying to the screen oh my gosh that is so gross I can't believe they went there. The stock footage of the concert scenes was a bid odd but ultimately the comedy worked for me.
I have no urge to watch it again anytime soon (or own it on blu) but I can say that about a lot of comedies from the past few years.
