Trainwreck...this is a smartly written, loose comedy. Very effective and perfect vehicle for Schumer. Not like what looks like horseshit in Snatched.

Yep. I haven't had a chance to watch the extras (they're all on disc two). As for the transfer, it was good but I did notice some (minor) scratches and one instance of some serious film damage, it's a blip but noticeable, I'll try and get a screen grab of it. The audio though sounded fantastic.

One of my favorite movies for 40 years. I've owned three late 2nd generation Trans Ams including the one in my garage right now.

Sounds good. Think I saw this once and maybe not whole thing. But has always intrigued me. I think one of the first PG-13 movies ever back in '84. The Red Dawn era, Sheena, Firstborn...

Actually, according to the back cover, it's PG (and to make sure, I checked filmratings.org) which is surprising given the violence and (very) brief nudity.

By the Sea - 4/5

A nice throwback to the European art films of the 60's & 70's by Godard, Antonioni, Bergman, etc..., about an American couple who go on vacation to France in an attempt to salvage their marriage which is hanging by a thread. Don't get all the hate for this one, it's actually a very personal and well made film that would have probably been welcome with open arms if made 40 years ago.

Beautiful Girls (1996) - very entertaining and engaging story, but I thought it was pretty damn sad.

Kingsmen: The Secret Service...just pure fun. The action scenes are perfectly staged. That first pub brawl scene with Firth was poetic. Watched with a smile the whole time.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I checked out the DVD of Blow-up from the library (criterion) and it was great. All these years later and I never realized that Blow-Out was a remake. The two are almost completely different, too. Blow-up plays more like a new wave and experimental exercise. I also saw that Hemming's photographer character was parodied by Mike Myers in the first Austin Powers film. When the next sale hits I am definitely getting it on BD. Oh, and Gillian Hill and Jane Birkin are gorgeous. I was born in the wrong decade.

Next watch The Conversation and then Blow Out. I wouldn't call either one a remake but they were both heavily inspired by Antonioni's masterful film.

Women in Love - 4/5

Two sisters become romantically involved with two close friends in 1920's England. With each individual seeking something different out of their relationship, tragedy and heartbreak looms over the horizon. A daring film that was ahead of its time and paved the way for its visionary director who would two years later give us his masterpiece The Devils.
