One False Move...nice Bill Paxton starrer. Great little crime thriller. Much more brutal than I expected. Would have liked the final act not wrap so quickly, but well done, good movie.

Catfight - Surprisingly strange little movie, and while entertaining, I authentically hated Anne Heche, Sandra Oh and Alicia Silverstone in their own very insufferable ways. Actually, insufferable is too soft of a word. Fuck these characters. It's also a well done metaphor for our inability to discuss issues before letting emotion take over.

Moonlight...fantastic. unexpected. powerful. beautiful. glacial paced, but always magnetic. powerful acting. i will say that i am perplexed by Ali's win considering his screen time. i really expected him to be in the film much more and from what i heard i was pulling for him to win, which he did, but i thought it was for much more than this. only minor gripe, but way to go Jenkins and crew.

- Jurassic Park
- The Lost World
- Ice Girls
All on Netflix. For me, The Lost World seems to get better with each viewing (this us at least my third viewing).

Wanted to revisit after seeing JW2 a couple weeks ago. Even with the high body count, seems tame compared with the new one.

Watched a couple of apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic movies on Netflix:
These Final Hours - Aussie film about the last few hours before the extinction-level effects of an asteroid strike in the Atlantic ocean reach Australia. Other movies have tread similar ground (Last Night, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World), but I still enjoyed this. It's small and personal and ultimately uplifting rather than nihilistic.
The Last Survivor - a girl and her friends are the last holdouts against a ruthless water baron in a drought-stricken valley. Pretty well-made in terms of the look and the tone, though there are a lot of implausibilities in the story and actions of the characters. A much better take on a similar theme is Young Ones with Michael Shannon.

Nocturnal Animals...a little too arty for my taste. Thought the story within the story was great and wish that was the movie, but Ford was making some parellels between both the real world and fictitious one that I just didn't get. Gyllenhal, Shannon and especially Johnson were great. Adams was fine. I guess I just didn't get it and wish I did. As it is, it was an ok movie.

Logan...thought the movie was sublime. Such a fitting ending to one of the most iconic superheroes in Marvel history, if not all superhero history. He certainly was always my favorite since growing up and collecting X-Men and especially the Wolverine series and graphic novels. reason why i love Michigan Wolverines college football and why i hold Red Dawn so near and dear to my hear as well. of course, the movie kicks all kinds of ass anyway, but the fact that the mascot was a wolverine just cemented it as one of my favorites of all time.
anyway, back to movie, just so much emotion, kick ass action, really violent deaths, and a fitting tribute to this character. the end got to me to, but i didn't cry like some other babies on this forum but it was a great moment when she turned the cross to an X and that i got it! i would, and only minor gripe, would have loved to see an "Eden" with many more mutants, even some we know, to show up at end, but still very nicely done by all. sad to see this one go...

Doctor Strange...really liked this one. A character I knew nothing about, but very well done and Cumberpatch owned the part.

About Elly - 4.5/5
A group of friends from Tehran consisting of three married couples, a single man, and a single woman leave the city for a weekend vacation. While there the couples try to play matchmakers with their single friends, but when the woman goes missing some secrets come out in the open about her past. Excellent film about the how gender definition in a theocratic society prevents people from being openly honest.

Hacksaw Ridge - 1/5
Who knew that Jesus would come back as a WWII army medic. What a manipulative piece of crap, I was waiting for the Americans to have CGI halos appear on the tops of their heads and for the Japanese to sprout horns. Part melodramatic soap opera and part war porn, should be called Saving the Passion of Private Forrest Gump. For a story about a pacifist it sure was violent as fuck. Mel Gibson has some serious issues.

Allied...well I watched it till the end which is saying something, but it really wasn't a great movie and can't believe it got high recommend here. Both Brad and Marion look like their acting, very stiff and not life like. It tried to be English Patient or something. Sweeping and epic, but it wasn't. No naturalness and coming from Zemeckis that doesn't surprise me since his movies are technical marvels, but lack depth or substance. At least for me anyway. This was hollow, but serviceable.

Pitt and Cotillard had great chemistry. I thought their love story developed quite naturally. If the rumors were indeed true that they hooked up during filming, I wouldn't be surprised.
