Zoolander - 1.5/5
Ben Stiller's juvenile satire about the world of male modeling. A couple of really funny moments surrounded by mostly "beat you over the head look at me I'm trying to be funny why aren't you laughing" type crap. Should have gone with my first instinct and shut it off at the half hour mark. This could have been hilarious in the hands of someone like Christopher Guest.

"Everybody Wants Some!" It kind of hit me like a lot of Richard Linklater's films, -not strong on story, but strong on atmosphere and an excellent cast (for the most part). I wasn't compelled by it, -I wasn't hanging on waiting to see what happened, -but the overall experience is pleasant enough that I can forgive that.
The BD includes a 25-minute mix of out-takes and alternate takes and a bit of "on the set" nonsense thrown into a blender that's a nice little capper, but otherwise it's a bit "bare" (which makes me wonder if there's stuff being saved for a Criterion version down the road).

Entertaining but I thought it was a comedy which it was not. Fey has a ton of charm and she brought some humor but don't believe this is a comedy
I thought it was good but wasn't nearly as blown away as others were. Emily Blunt plays an FBI agent who works with some strange guys from other agencies who kind of write their own rules. At one point it appeared she was mad at them because they were supposed to wait to be shot at before returning fire. When they see two carloads of guys with guns they go on offense and have a firefight in the middle of a traffic jam. A) they shouldn't have gotten in the middle to begin with, they should have used the shoulder of the road to bypass. B) when guys are getting guns ready, start shooting. Why wait until a colleague is dead? Had some good action and nice tension in parts, just had a couple stupid parts that took me out of the movie.

Spotlight - 4/5
Very good film that was well acted, especially by Mark Ruffalo, and well written. It's good to see Michael Keaton back in action.
The Big Short - 4/5
Same thing with this film, well acted, well written, but much flashier, especially with the direction. Can't believe that Christian Slater got an Oscar nod over Steve Carell.
I do have to say that after watching those two films back to back, my contempt for humanity has gotten even worse. Tonight I will pray that a meteor hits the earth.

Haven't seen Star Trek 2009 since it came out in theatres.
I've had the Blu-Ray sitting on the shelf unwatched for a really long time, so I decided to watch it again today. I'll probably watch Into Darkness this upcoming week as well.
Since I haven't seen it in almost 7 years, I thought it held up pretty well and was quite entertaining.

Favorite movie of the three I watched this weekend. Even though they record separately, the onscreen chemistry between the two leads hasn't been this good since Toy Story. The conversation flowed so well you'd swear they recorded at the same time.

Hell Squad:
Yup--watched it on VHS. This movie was so stupid that I probably lost 30 IQ points while viewing it. From Cannon Films, with all the quality that brand entails.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates Had some raunchy laughs. Aubrey Plaza isn't afraid of anything. She was as bold as Malin Akerman was in Heartbreak Kid. Unfortunately the leads are all such douche bags it's tough to have any sympathy or compassion for any of them. They try to manufacture some but ultimately I didn't care for any of them and felt sorry for the sister
