The Angry Birds Movie (2016) theatrically in Cinemark's XD, which is not worth the 50% premium. The movie is loud, obnoxious, and several years too late (and the dated cultural references would make the writers of Shrek proud), but there is some impressive animation (particularly the water in the mountain lake).

Applesauce - 4/5

A high-school teacher's life starts to fall apart after he tells his wife and friends the worst thing he's ever done. Wicked indie black comedy that is just as morbid as it is hilarious.

Rented the Blu-Rays and watched all 3 of these last night and today.

Liked Race. Thought it was pretty well made. A little surprised that it was a box office bomb.

Triple 9 could have been great, but it ended up being just alright. It had a really great cast.

Liked How to be Single. Some funny moments. I can see it not appealing to most here.

Hello, My Name is Doris - Saw this at a second run arthouse draft house style theater, and the booze helped. This is undoubtedly one of the most uncomfortably awkward movies I've ever seen, and Sally Field is probably the best she's ever been. It's about what you'd expect from Michael Showalter (Creator of The State and Wet Hot American Summer) playing it semi-straight. Recommended.

Money Monster Entertaining enough for the run time. No twists, turns or reveals. You can pretty much guess what happens from the trailers but it was a decent time at the movies. B

A Perfect Man. Maybe this movie was made for a second run on Lifetime.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I was in the title insurance business from early 01 until the crash. Since we did the re-fi closings I can attest to the craziness we saw at that time. It's easy to blame the "predatory lenders" but you should have seen the serial refinancers who treated equity like an ATM. Just keep paying off old loans with new ones. Like a Ponzi scheme eventually you run out of money. One thing I didn't see the movie address unless I missed it. This is not political since it was completely bi-partisan; the whole house of cards started in the 90's with the thinking that everyone should be able to own a home. Rules just kept getting relaxed. After the 9/11 attacks, real estate was the engine keeping the economy moving so the craziness was encouraged even more. The money being made was obscene. Loan officers like the Schmidt character were making hundreds of thousands and one I know made close to a million. In our company we talked for years about the eventual slowdown although none of us predicted a crash like that.

Olivia Munn is the best part about that movie Had to check out her leaked nudes after that.

Venus - 3/5

An aging actor in his 70's falls in love with his best friend's 19 year old trashy grandniece. Starts out good but then takes the clichéd sentimental route. Worth watching for the great Peter O' Toole doing what he does best.

The One I Love - 3.5/5

A couple whose marriage is hanging by a thread try to salvage it by going on a romantic weekend retreat. While there things take a bizarre twist when they discover that they're not alone. Interesting film that avoids taking the typical route but by doing this it raises more questions than it answers.
