Ghostbusters It was certainly entertaining and the F/X were top notch. McCarthy was the most subdued of the bunch with McKinnon stealing the show. Kristen Wiig is a local girl and in spite of our 14 year age difference is madly in love with me. Liked the cameos. Felt the sub-plots of Dana and Louis in the first one helped make things more interesting. A couple times I was thinking "they just did that" as they pulled out their blasters.

Elvis & Nixon...such an absurd premise. based solely on a famous picture. made thoroughly and unmistakably enjoyable through light direction, and embodying performances of Shannon and Spacey. the whole cast was just great. the movie, breezy and absolutely entertaining. this isn't a think piece, just a light-hearted look at what might have been in history.

The Assignment (1997)

Anyone heard of this movie? Watched it tonight on the Sony HD Channel. It stars Aidan Quinn, Donald Sutherland and Ben Kingsley. I never heard of it, but was glued to the entire 2 hours. Thought it was a really compelling international terrorism thriller.

Supposedly it's loosely based on the real life true story of international terrorist Carlos the Jackal.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

That pretty much leaves me out. I prefer movies that have all the depth of the shallow end of the kiddie pool
Tape is maybe only a hour and 25 minutes long but worth the time. Kind of like watching a stage play on film but with profanity lol.

Spoiler:
The ending is kind of ambiguous and still not sure if the rape happened or if it was all a set-up?

The Spy Who Loved Me - Starz

A Bond fave, and it has been a while since I last watched this Bond...wow, Barbara Bach is stunning.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

As many times as I've seen this film, it was fun watching this film in a theater with a group.

Strange Invaders (1983)

Fun FX work but the pacing was absolutely brutal.

I bought the DVD the day it was released, and I was so disappointed. It was awesome when I was 8, not so much at 26 (see also: Return of the Jedi, although I don't and won't own that on any format).

yeah, i was disappointed. the acting, especially Ken Marshall was laughable. the effects, especially the "being" even more so. oh well.

They set out to make a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen by taking the same implausible plot and making it bigger, louder, and a higher body count. They succeeded. If you liked the first one and want more of the exact same, you'll like this one too.

For Your Eyes Only - Starz. I forgot how much action was in this Bond film. Skiing scenes in Bond films are always fantastic (and this comes from someone who does not ski/snowboard).

Diamonds Are Forever - Starz.

All this star power it should have been better than what it was. It's a 6.3 on IMDB right now and I'd have to agree with that assessment.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

As Above, So Below - a found-footage horror movie set in the catacombs beneath Paris. I liked it overall. Some of the setup is pretty silly, like the guy translating an ancient Aramaic message into English... and it happens to rhyme!? But the underground stuff is pretty creepy and there is at least a little bit of plot beyond just running through tunnels.

Marfa Girl - 2.5/5

Coming of age story of a teenager living in a small Texas town near the Mexican border. Covers the typical Larry Clark themes of directionless youth from dysfunctional families engaging in destructive behavior. He'll never make anything that comes close to Bully, which IMO is his best film.

Syfy Channnel - Atomic Shark (almost finished watching...as doofy a film as you would expect). Part of the shark week countdown to Sharknado The Fourth Awakens.

I think tonight's movie is about sharks that use dead bodies to create a dam (that is as much as I know about the film)...so a Beavershark (which should have been the name of the movie).
