Excellent choice, and if you don't mind my asking...how did you come to pick him over The Sundance Kid? I could never convince myself one way or the other, which is why I'm nine picks in without either on my list.

Thanks! In all honesty, I just flipped a coin. I thought I might be able to choose based on "memorable quotes", but even then it was a toss up.

Good choice! He was on my short list for my final pick.

Re: DVDTalk draft game

I can't believe how much overlap there's been late. Between my 1st and 8th pick one guy is taken that I want, the guy I want for my 9th pick goes one pick before and my 2nd choice goes one pick after. No way anyone takes my 10th round target though.

You won't have to wait that long, boys. Because I'm coming for you. And I'm gonna be bringing a few of my friends.

Re: DVDTalk draft game

I think if you do another one of these in the future.. One a Character gets picked he's eliminated. It should also apply to actors such as Nicholson, Eastwood had so many great roles. It should also apply to movies, no more 2 actors taken from the same movie.

Lets say Bond gets picked.. That would eliminate all the bond movies, all the actors who played bond and the bond character itself.

While I like this the way it is, This new suggestion I believe would be more thought provoking. Just a thought that is all!

10. Optimus Prime - voice of Peter Cullen (Transformers franchises, 1986-current)
"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

Confession: Optimus wasn't even on my list until the middle of the night. I was trying to decide between Julian Noble (Pierce Brosnan in The Matador) and Dr. Bill Hartford (Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut) when Optimus crossed my mind and seemed like the perfect tie-breaker.

I like the idea of restricting to one character per film, and can even go along with one per franchise. But I can't support only one role per actor, since this is supposed to be about characters. I know there are plenty of people who can't separate a character from an actor's performance (I've already had one minor quibble in this thread over that subject), but I just don't see any reason for that kind of comprehensive restriction.

Not only that, but let's say we went with James Bond. In this case, I took 007. Since Sean Connery played Bond, and also played Robin Hood, would that mean that, by extension, Robin Hood would also be ineligible for the game? See, it gets tricky when you start placing the emphasis on the actor and not the role.

True enough there would be grey areas.. just thinking more than anything. I don't mind having multiple characters from the same actor.. There are some amazing actors out there such as Nicholson and Eastwood.

Oh and BTW.. I had Prime already picked out and decided against it! He was the guy I was asking about when I asked if we could pick animated characters.

Kinda weird that you took my first round pick(honestly I couldn't believe bond fell that far).. and my "was gonna be" last round pick!

Great choice, cardsfan. Another one from my final pick short list (and I would have used that same photo, too ).

I've never seen that film, but based on the still I'm going to assume it's some kind of gay porno.

You can say that about the last 4 picks.

Thanks. Up until this pick, I had chosen all of my favorite movie characters. For this last one, I went with the favorite character/movie of my wife (though I like him as well).

Véronique (Irène Jacob, The Double Life of Véronique, 1991)

I know this pick won't garner me any votes, but I had to choose my favorite character from my favorite film.

I've done far worse than kill you, Admiral. I've hurt you. And I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her; marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet... buried alive! Buried alive! ...

Re: DVDTalk draft game

Looks like the draft will be wrapping up shortly, I want to thank you all for your patience.

I have a question for all:

How long should each round last? 24 hours? 48? More or less?
Majority rules

With the exception of the championship round, which will be a little longer than the rest.
