"Shut up, ****. You louse. You got some fuckin' neck ain't you. Retired? Fuck off, you're revolting. Look at your suntan, it's leather, it's like leather man, your skin. We could make a fucking suitcase out of you. Like a crocodile, fat crocodile, fat bastard. You look like fucking Idi Amin, you know what I mean? Stay here? You should be ashamed of yourself. Who do you think you are? King of the castle? Cock of the walk?"

OK guys, it's been fun. I'm going to end this draft with a pick I'm genuinely shocked no one has taken before now (unless I completely missed it):
"Who's the more foolish: The fool, or the fool who follows him?"

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor, 1979-2005)

Indeed it has been fun. Everyone step back and admire the team you have assembled...imagine those characters interacting with one another
Am I the only one wondering how Rambo didn't get drafted? Maybe he isn't a personal favorite of anyone here but he is an iconic lead of a popular franchise, would have thought someone would have selected him based on that alone.
I will set up the matchups shortly. Good luck to all!

Re: DVDTalk draft game
Just to explain the process at this point:
I'm setting up the draw right now, and the first round matchups are selected at random by names drawn from a hat. The rounds will be open 3 days from when they are posted. After 3 days I will declare a winner in each thread. If a round ends in a tie, the very next vote decides the winner.
Feel free to add pics of your characters, video clips, quotes, whatever you can to persuade the voters to pick your team. Or you can do nothing, that is perfectly acceptable
The championship round will last 5 days and the winner gets to PM me about their prize!
Any questions? Speak now or forever hold your peace
EDIT apparently I have the option of automatically closing the poll, so that makes things easier.

Re: DVDTalk draft game
Also, we're pretty sexist. I think there were, what? Four female characters? In any event, now that Osiris has gotten himself suspended, I guess this is on hold pending his (unlikely) return? I can't say I'm surprised; I found him argumentative in this thread, but at the time I was still hoping to win this thing so I tried not to make a big deal of it.
The real shame is that I think some of us really did have some thoughtful discussions of characters along the way. Yes, most of this was just "I'm picking [character]" in this thread and mostly "[character] is awesome/sucks" in the voting threads, but there were some fun spirited discussions peppered in along the way. I'd like to thank those with whom I conferred.

Re: DVDTalk draft game
I did have Norma Desmond on my short list but cleaver selected her first. I thought about the Wicked Witch of the West but I did not want to overlap since the Cowardly Lion was selected too.
I guess I should have selected Jessica Rabbit for my final pick -- probably would have been better than my selection of Alan Swann.

I'd like the record to state that wishbone transposed my final vote total in the results...I received a DVD Draft Talk Game record 53 first round votes.
I believe this record will stand for a long time.

Re: DVDTalk draft game
1. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver, Alien franchise, 1979-97)
2. Tony "Iron Man" Stark (Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man franchise, 2008-present)
3. John Malkovich (John Malkovich, Being John Malkovich, 1999)
4. Kenny "Pig Vomit" Rushton (Paul Giamatti, Private Parts, 1997)
5. Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds, 2009)
6. Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas, Wall Street & Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, 1987-2010)
7. Major T. J. "King" Kong (Slim Pickins, Dr. Strangelove, 1964)
8. The Grim Reaper, a.k.a. Death (various actors, various films, 1950-present)
9. Saddam Hussein (Matt Stone, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, 1999)
10. Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal, Under Siege 1 & 2, 1992-1995)
I thought Ripley was a great choice, especially since it added one of the few bona fide female characters to your roster. I gave you kudos for Malkovich, too. I've not seen a lot of the movies on your list, but I will say I thought you had the weakest selection in the entire game with Saddam Hussein.
He's not particularly appealing, and has been portrayed in other films (such as Hot Shots!, as noted when you drafted him). By specifying the caricature of him in South Park, you linked your selection with what is essentially a TV show parody version of a real person.
The Grim Reaper/Death was an interesting choice, and one I briefly considered when I compiled my own list of characters to draft. But the problem is that the character has appeared in so many incarnations over the years in all kinds of films that, while you had intended to pick the one from Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, I think a lot of voters were really just unsure what to make of him. No singular version really stood out to voters who were oblivious to the selection thread, when you'd made your case for which version you meant.
I don't mean to dump on you for it, of course. I took a lot of heat for selecting Optimus Prime--enough that he singlehandedly seems to have cost me victory.
