Having never read the books, had no clue about what this was about but Wright being involved I was already in. Sure Cera had me thinking otherwise, but the trailer was good so Im excited now. Maybe Ill pick the books up now since they seem to be a good deal on Amazon.

I've always been a fan of Evans. He's like a Ryan Reynolds for the new decade. He has tons of charisma and energy, but stars in usually shit films. He was the only likable thing about the two craptastic Fantastic Four films and I do have a soft spot for the guilty pleasure that is Cellular. His dramatic turn in London is good too.

I keep meaning to watch Cellular. It was on a few weeks ago over here so I will keep an eye out for it.
Also been a fan of Kim!

Anyone else getting a Buckaroo Banzai vibe from this one?

I had glimpsed at the comics before, but I sat down and read 1-5 last night. Awesome stuff. Can't wait for volume 6, and the movie.

Interesting, I saw these at Borders the other day when I bought Kick-Ass. I'll have to give these a read too.

Just got Vol. 1 and 2 today. I love Vol. 1 already and I'm only about 10 pages in.

Looks great to me. I enjoy Michael Cera, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are both outstanding and the trailer looks cool and creative. I'm in!

nice. If you love volume 1 only 10 pages in, your mind will explode as you get to the other books.

It's really cool to see this trailer starting to make more fans of the books

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2009) (Edgar Wright) (starring Michael Cera)

The trailer looked good, but it seemed entirely focused on the fighting, which is a significant but minor part of the books. Part of me is trying to convince myself that it's just a trailer and of course they are going to focus on the action, but then again if they are putting all 7 fights in one movie that doesn't leave much room for anything else.

As far as Cera goes. I like him and his shtick, but if he's just going to do that for the whole time then it could still be a good movie, but he won't be Scott Pilgrim.

Interesting. I have zero familiarity with the book. The trailer made it look like a silly romantic comedy movie about a guy who has to deal with (battling or otherwise) his girlfriend's evil ex boyfriends.

What else is in the books?

I love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz but never read the Scott Pilgrim comics (never heard of them 'til recently). This sadly looks lame. And I loved Speed Racer.

I just bought them actually. And I liked them. They're pretty funny.

If the books were a movie, tonally it would be more like an indie movie than a mainstream romantic/comedy/action flick. 80% of it is spent on stuff like hanging out with his friends, going to/playing concerts, moving, going on dates, finding a job, etc. Granted, it's not the best trailer material so I can understand why they are selling the ex-boyfriend angle.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure how well that stuff would translate to a movie. Maybe a movie that is an action/comedy highlight reel of the series is the way to go.

Don't forget, guys: When they started adapting for the movie, there were only 3 volumes out. The movie reportedly follows those volumes very closely, but significantly deviates from that point forward, even though they had Bryan's notes. The movie will be very different than the book, when all is said and done.

Although the evil exes are the same from the books.

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2009) (Edgar Wright) (starring Michael Cera)

Reshoots, seems like they're adding some stuff over fixing some bad scenes.

Edgar Wright wrapped up principal photography on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World almost a year ago and has been in an editing cave ever since. The film is reportedly testing well with audiences, but the director has decided that three days of reshoots will be the "icing on the cake".

The effects-heavy adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel stars Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, who has to defeat the seven evil exes of his latest love interest. The reshoot news dropped over at Production Weekly's Twitter and was expanded upon when CHUD was able to get a hold of Wright via email
. The reshoots stem from new material available in the graphic novel series finale, Vol. 6, which is publishing this summer. The Shaun of the Dead director explains:

We have material from Vol 6 that is impossible to resist and so even after a nearly a year of editing - it's going to be fun to put some icing on the cake. We are not even redoing one full scene, just some bits and bobs and new jokes and beats that I wrote with Bacall & O'Malley.

The e-mail is devoid of spoilers for the sake of the comic's loyal readers who are patiently awaiting the summer release of this final volume, as well as those who are trying not to spoil any of the movie for themselves. Scott Pilgrim already looks like it's going to be one of this summer's most fun films, and with Wright spicing it up at zero hour, we can be sure it'll be a favorite.

But I thought the test screening reviews were amazingly positive? Paying all that money for reshoots just to add some jokes seems strange. I think they just want it to be closer to the novel's ending to avoid backlash from the fanboys.

And teh screenings were good. Seems like the ending of SP has some neat stuff. I only have 1 and 2 atm. So...you know..whatever makes the movie better is good. I trust Wright

As much as I liked the other trailer, this one blows it away.

Really, am I the only one who thinks this looks awful? It's like Speed Racer all over again, but with zero fun.
