I think it's possible to like this movie and still admit that the product placement was about as subtle as Wayne's World.

I guess I didn't pay much attention to product placement. I was too busy paying attention to the transforming robots.

Ah, the few haters in this thread, who for some reason keep posting in it...won't stop this from being a mega blockbuster. It'll continue to rack up the dough this Summer. Can't wait for the 2 sequels. I hope they're just as fun as this one.

Until this movie, I had no idea that there was a city just like downtown L.A. 20 miles away from the Hoover Dam.

I noticed the product placement, but honestly, who gives a fuck? We're a capitalist country. It helped pay the bills. Advertising is all around you, including this website.

Transformers has the #6 highest 7-day opening of all-time with whopping $156 million. It's US total stands at $165 million and counting.

And I do recall seeing people carry game system boxes out of stores... gasp!... without a bag! As I tried to say, what's unrealistic is when you see all the "generic" stuff in TV shows and movies. People's homes, and lives, are full of name brands. |

Sorry, but I still can't believe someone (or two people even) complained about product placement in this movie, as if they expected it to not be a pure summer blockbuster popcorn flick whose origin owes everything to commercialization. Laughable. Don't go to a summer blockbuster directed by Michael Bay and based on an 80's toy/cartoon line expecting it to be "Schindler's List".

Until this movie I had no idea robots could transform into vehicles!! If it's in a movie it must be taken entirely from reality! |

Using real robots ... not so easy. Using a real city ... sounds pretty reasonable. ... So I saw it. Loved it. Bay sure does know the dynamics of making a good action picture. The way everything is staged, choreographed, etc. is incredible. All of the movements and everything come out at just the right time. I hope to see some him re-invent his style over his next few movies. I think he could just do something very different and stay totally amazing. I think sometimes I'm going to see his next movie, and be bummed out because it's the same ole' thing. But I haven't been worn down by them just yet. |

I mean, heck, a majority of voters voted for Bush, twice - doesn't make him the best man for the job.

But, I think that the concept for the movie itself is heavily commercialized. It's in a who other arena than an 'original work' movie. Seeing all of the product placement in Transformers is not like seeing product placement in ... say ... an original piece of work like ... say ... Good Will Hunting. So none of this really bothers me. Also, companies throw RIDICULOUS amounts of money at product placement like that. And Bay seems to be OK with that stuff. You're talking about taking 5% off your budget just for a little product placement. That's some big time stuff. |
