i dont get the issue with ebay. the kid has a set of old glasses from his semi-famous grandfather. the kid needs money to buy a car. how else is he supposed to find a buyer for them? I like product placement, it makes movies more REALISTIC. Nothing irks me more in a movie or tv show than seeing someone say a 555 phone number. and by the way, when I bought my PS2 I carried it out in its box without a bag. why is it so hard to believe? |
I've seen some nitpicking complaints before (I mean, this IS the internet after all) but some of the complaints about this movie are asinine beyond normal. I daresay some here hated the movie before it was even released and only went to see it to whine online about it.

I"m sure if they would have used eHarbor or something fake it would have been ok. Oh and I carried my 360 out of the store with just the box in my hands also. |
I'm done discussing the product placement. I felt it was awkward, obvious and didn't feel natural at all. And it wasn't the brand names (I don't like 555 and "Gamesphere" stuff either), it was how obvious they were being with it. Apparently I'm the only one that thought that, which is fine but doesn't change my opinion.
Overall, I think they made a movie with some of the best special effects I've ever seen coupled with some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard. That made the movie extremely disappointing, since there was no reason the script couldn't match the effects. Disappointment with the script combined with useless scenes with human characters that did not matter to the story (when I'd argue that maybe showing more of the Decepticons prior to 30 minutes before the movie was over would be a better use of time) and the constant presence of product placement equalled a bad time at the movies for me. I'm glad you all enjoyed it. I didn't, and it's okay for me to feel that way too. |

But that's life. Right now typing this I have a Compaq, HP, Mountain Dew labels staring at me. A movie shouldn't be any different. |

Yeah the nitpicking is ridiculous. The key is this movie NEVER for one second intended to be a serious movie. You can't judge all movies on the same criteria. I think this is absolutely a case of 'Lucas Raped My Childhood-itis' and it's truly a sad thing. PLUS, i wish more people would take the freakin' high-road and if they really despise a movie, say their piece, and the move the hell on. Why just aggrivate people that did have a good time? I'm all for criticism, but if you hate a flick, WHY spend this much time trying to get others to your viewpoint? WHy not just move on and watch things you enjoy? If there's a film I end up hating, I don't feel the need to post anything at all! |

You know, it could have been because I'd given up on the movie by that point, but I didn't even notice the brand on the memory card. That felt more natural to me as well than the other examples. That's true. Can't remember the brand on that so they must have failed to highlight it correctly :) Would you at least agree that your absolute hatred for this movie since nearly the time it was announced may, just possibly, have biased your opinion before seeing it to the point that stupid little shit like this bothered you more than it would have otherwise? |

Or... he could've had a yard sale! Yeah! And those evil nasty Decepticons would show up an hour early! As for the "LA Skyline," I didn't know that's what it was. I've never seen it. I live in Pittsburgh. Cities get used in movies all the time - accurately, inaccurately. Sometimes one city "poses" for another. The only people who will care or notice are, maybe, those who live there. For instance, I can notice problems in the movie Striking Distance, which was filmed in Pittsburgh. (Not a bad flick, BTW.) And IIRC, most of the movie Major League, based in Cleveland, wasn't actually filmed in Cleveland. In the opening of Dogma, at the airport, they were supposed to be in Wisconsin... but they were in Pittsburgh's airport! It just doesn't matter! |
I wish they would have used this guy in the movie:
http://zanelli.smugmug.com/photos/158532376-L.gif Oh wait the Lazy-Boy on the side of the box would have totally ruined it. |

If you'll notice, not one of my complaints about the film were about changes made to the Transformers mythology. Seeing the trailers and commercials made me realize that, ok, there are big changes here but the effects look good so I'll see it. I went because I wanted to see it on the big screen and since everyone had been praising it up one side and down the other, I was willing to admit that maybe my initial impressions were wrong and they would turn it around. Instead, I ended up loving the stuff I'd seen in the trailers and hating the stuff they didn't show. The extremely juvenile humor. The inordinate amount of time spent on characters who had nothing with to the plot and extended the movie by at least 20 minutes. The awkward situations the characters are forced into for silly plot and "humorous" moments. It ultimately became too much for me. I wanted to like this movie a lot, since I had accepted the major changes and, like I said, I was more than willing to admit I was wrong about my initial impressions. It's happened before and will happen again. But I can't force myself to like bad dialogue, useless characters and nonsensical plot points. I just can't. And the only reason I continue to post is because people are responding to my comments or addressing issues I had with the movie. Can't I use this thread to discuss the movie with other people? Or is it only for people to say "I loved it!"? I'm not getting upset about any of this either. I'm truly baffled that so many people are willing to ignore things here that get pounced on in similar movies (the Star Wars prequels, for example). I'll keep posting if people keep responding to me. Sorry if that bothers anyone  |

Draven: You don't like the movie. We get it. You can move along now. What do you, and folks like slop, hope to accomplish here? You're not going to make anyone who enjoyed the movie decide they don't like it. |
They should have had the glasses in a museum. And the deceptions disguise as museum displays that come to life at night trying to steal the glasses from a surprised Ben Stiller.

I think your criticisms are valid to a point. At least you aren't comparing making fun of this movie to making fun of retarded people. Like someone else is. |
Draven, you and I are on the same page. I grew up loving them. Hated the initial leaks and whatnot, but kept an open mind hoping they would wow me over. I won't relist them all but I have many of the same complaints as your post above. It was a mildly enjoyable flick that was marred by numerous bad decisions.

Xbox and Mountain Dew, sure. Likewise I look the memory stick to be plot device rather than a Panasonic plug. Like LOOK HERE, I'm stealing something I shouldn't be.

Anyway....
I don't think they could pull of the Dinobots in the next movie effectively. It would be stupid if they looked like real dinosaurs. And why would the Autobots create them like they did in the cartoon? I'm hoping it will be something like the Dinobots ship crashed here millions of years ago and the Autobots find a signal from the ship still running. So they find it and reactivate the ship but it takes some scan info from the area but only finds dinosaur bones. So it makes the protoforms look like Dinosaurs for the most part. I don't know I have a hard time thinking the Dinobots would be a dumb idea for the next movie. The Constructicons on the other hand would be awesome. |
