Easy to take a partial quote out of context.

By your logic, anything that you do not know makes you ignorant.

Just a suggestion; leave it alone. Username doesn't like the movie. No need to fuel his intended flame war (see how you're not even talking about the movie anymore). Just accept username doesn't like it and move on.

BTW, I enjoyed the movie.

BRAISKI 07-11-07 03:15 AM

This movie was just awesome!!!

I wish they released it on IMAX :D

BRAISKI 07-11-07 03:16 AM

I have to watch this movie again soon :)

BRAISKI 07-11-07 03:19 AM

I can't believe those freaking Rotten Tomatoes critics!!! They suck!

Thats why I hate basing movies by critics!

Tribute.ca have an average of 4.70 from movie goers!

They should've made the movie about singing aliens that use their voices as weapons.

Like in the cartoon...because...that was good, right?

As I tried to say, what's unrealistic is when you see all the "generic" stuff in TV shows and movies. People's homes, and lives, are full of name brands.

totally agree. most people don't own generic brands. i never see anyone drinking a cola beverage without it saying coke or pepsi on it. was michael bay supposed to come up with a generic ebay like website instead of just using ebay itself. c'mon, everybody uses ebay. and the video game console that tranformed, what other brands other than xbox, PS3, or Wii could of been used. none. product placement makes movies more realistic.

Superboy 07-11-07 04:40 AM

Product placement isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it rarely distracts me from watching movies. I tend to notice it in new movies than old ones. Do you see anyone complaining about how Back to the Future plugged Diet Pepsi, the Delorean, and the Mattel brand?

Wow.

Mr. Cinema 07-11-07 06:34 AM

The film earned an "A" rating from Cinemascore and a 93% rating from exit polling. I'm so glad people are enjoying this film as much as I did. I can't wait to see it again!

Excuse me? Not only do I find that completely uncalled for, but I also find it hard to believe anybody could back that claim with evidence!

*sigh* Is this on?

I never said it had to be generic. I just pointed out that they went OUT OF THEIR WAY to use branded material, to the point that it was obvious. If the All-Spark had changed everything on a street into a robot, there would have been plenty of stuff that didn't look branded in addition to things that did. Instead, we get a grand total of two things, both of which are instantly recognizable. That's distracting to me.

And you act like they absolutely had to use an auction website to advance the plot. Like there was no other way Sam and the robots could encounter each other. They didn't HAVE to do that, so the only reason they did was to get some money from eBay. That's distracting to me.

And once again, this was a very small part of the many problems with this movie.

I didn't latch onto the whole eBay thing as product placement so much as a plot device.

Xbox and Mountain Dew, sure. Likewise I look the memory stick to be plot device rather than a Panasonic plug. Like LOOK HERE, I'm stealing something I shouldn't be.

Also, the car steering-wheel was altered as well. ;)

So I'm ignorant because I don't know what the LA skyline looks like? I don't live in LA. There is nothing recognizable in the LA skyline that would make it unique unlike other major cities. Just generic buildings. But your right. Bay should have made a new CGI city. Or better yet he should have built a new city just for the battles for the 3 people in the world that would get pissed because he used the almighty LA skyline.

I have to slightly agree with the original point Mo. Yes your ignorant because you don't know what the LA skyline looks like! Doesn't make you stupid though. :) For example, most people wouldn't know, but Die Hard 2 really bugs me since that is nowhere even near a) Dulles airport, or b) anything like the area near (church part).

However, to slop, why would he be proud of his ignorance and for that matter how could you infer that he was acting proud of it? He simply stated that he, and like 99% of the rest of the audience, did not know what the LA skyline looked like so it didn't both them. Having said that, reference my point above about DH2.

You know, it could have been because I'd given up on the movie by that point, but I didn't even notice the brand on the memory card. That felt more natural to me as well than the other examples.

That's true. Can't remember the brand on that so they must have failed to highlight it correctly :)

They have every right to post in here, it's not a love-fest thread. Still I wish they could do it in a slightly less vitriolic way.

no, but the good number of repeat viewers does.

Oh come on, like sales for little red pea coats didn't SKYROCKET after that flick...

You know, I'm gonna stop making fun of this stupid movie, because it's a lot like making fun of a retarded person - it's obvious and just not fair. Sure, it might be fun to watch a retarded person trying to do things beyond his means, but ultimately, it's kinda sad. And just like a retarded person can't help being stupid, neither can this movie, and I shouldn't be so surprised that it was.
