For Hot Rod or any future Autobots, they could easily use one of GM's many concept cars. It was already used in The Island but the Cadillac Cien is gorgeous. Others are the Pontiac Rageous or GTO.

the aircraft carrier might be an autobot... like the base autobots from the cartoon

A friend of mine wanted to go see a movie tonight, so I ended up seeing Transformers a second time. It was just as good, if not better on a repeat viewing! Can't wait for the DVD! If Simpsons and Bourne wasn't coming out soon, I might have ended up seeing it a third time in the theater. Good stuff.

I'm still going with the Daytona.

Hot Rod should preferably be a heavily modified sports car, or something really rare instead of another production vehicle. One of the toys had him as the Ford GT which looked pretty good, but Ford might not want to allow their vehicles to be used once again. I don't think the Ford GT will even be in production that long anyway.

I still put my money on seeing Tracks in the 2nd or third movie, depending on when GM shows their new Corvette off.

Wasn't even thinking of the concept cars or modified cars. Definitely.

I finally got a chance to see this tonight, and I wish I had waited longer. I was fighting with myself on if I should just walk out. I thought it was very boring and not enough of the Transformers. All of the Ebay talk was embarrassing.

Hey, eBay was the ONLY way Sam could have realistically encountered the Transformers. There were literally no other options, so the writers really had no choice

I finally got around to seeing this, and surprisingly I didn't really like it that much. I can't figure out why, as it seemingly has all the proper ingredients. I think it all boils down to the fact that it just didn't meet the expectations I had built up for it. That and I didn't like the general goofiness of the film, especially the behavior of the autobots (like sneaking around and hiding in people's backyards).

That part still bothers me. All they had to do was stay in the alley. There was literally no reason for them to be farting around in Sam's backyard other than "humor".

That and Autobots have always been portrayed as a bit naive to human ways and curious.

Just saw this last night...I had never watched the Transformers when I was a kid (always was more partial to turtles) but figured I'd give it a shot.

The only reason I can think of for people saying they like this movie is because it holds some nostalgic value and gives them a little rush.

This movie was terrible.

The robots held no emotional value at all (Bay should rewatch Short Circuit) so when they die, i didn't care (also probably because I had no idea who was who except for a couple of them)...

The one liners were TERRIBLE! And the jokes that were cute the first time around got stale after the reusing of them over and over (songs in Bumblebee as the kid is trying to give the girl a ride home).

The Jesus? Laughable man HA HAAA!

Uninteresting plot line (by time the last battle came around...I still had no clue nor any interest in what that cube did).

Speaking of the last battle...lets have huge robots BATTLE for a cube in a busy intersection of DOWNTOWN (saving humans can come later)...

The only things that were great about the movie...the special effects were top notch...and after the movie I was suddenly inclined to go out and buy products by Apple, HP, GMC, Microsoft, Burger King, Chevy, Pepsi, and sell it all on Ebay!

It's made over $500 million worldwide and has received many positive reviews so I seriously doubt that EVERYBODY that saw it or or liked it only did so because they watched the cartoon in the 80's. Different strokes for different folks dude.

I saw this last night with my brother and 56 year old mum.
She loved the film, thought the action was great!
Cannot remember if she watched the cartoon with he when I was younger but she did buy me the toys. Does that count as nostalga?

Also what made you go and watch the film? the same nostalga that everyone else obviously had!

Actually no...the reason I ended up seeing the film was because everyone was telling me how great it was...one person even saying that "it's like the feeling you got when you first saw Jurassic Park."

No nostalgic value for me at all since this was my first Transformers exposure (before the movie I couldn't tell you what autobots or decepticons were).

I guess Ill agree with the person below my post...different strokes for different folks.

Also, I don't dislike the movie because of Michael Bay...for I have enjoyed many of these types of movies and will defend enjoying Armageddon. This just didn't do it for me. But perhaps someone from Aint It Cool said it best..."At least Armageddon had Bruce and the asteroids were not characters."

jdslater1 08-01-07 02:29 AM

Matto1020, so you didn't watch the Armageddon documenteries?
The asteroid was a character! they give it a noise and everything.
I love Bay movies aswell (Transformers being my fave now!).
Like you say, different strokes and all that. I just do not think it was purely nostalga!

its funny you say this.... my boss was dragged to see Transformers was expecting the worst... he summed up the movie by saying...."it was a cool movie"..... he said it wasnt an oscar worthy movie except for the special effects but that it was extremely fun... he said the final battle could have been brought down 10 minutes but it was good that it was long..... if it was too short the transformers would have been meaningless.

its some people's cup of tea and it isnt but the box office speaks for itself... plus its odd but there are still some places that have lines for it...

I don't have the energy to look but I think someone said that in this thread.

I couldn't believe it either.

dadaluholla 08-01-07 01:27 PM

Yeah really! Transformers was much better than Jurassic Park.

You're right. I forgot about that awesome moment when the T-Rex stepped on a planter and said "my bad".

Transformers WISHES it had scenes that awesome and hilarious!

Maybe they should have replaced Anthony Anderson with Wayne Knight.

raven56706 08-01-07 01:56 PM

wow.... didnt know what you guys were expecting... the script made by michael mann or ridley scott... its freaking transformers that was from a cartoon.... rotfl... i cant believe this...

That doesn't make sense. Wayne Knight's character actually contributed to the story.

I was expecting them to put a fraction of the energy into the script that they put into the effects. I was sorely disappointed.

As I've said before, all it would have needed to be decent would have been someone in power taking a pass through the script with a red pen, crossing out all the stupid shit that made it into the final cut. And the bonus effect is trimming 20 minutes off the runtime.

Again as I've said my problems have never been with the source material, and I'd given up on my expectations to be faithful to the characters. My problems were with the easily fixable script issues that plague the entire movie.
