Rocshemp: Good point, last we heard about him and Supes was that he was totally game for it and like was admirably vocal about still wanting to be Supes..hell...as he was doing that he was pumping it from what it looks like. I think he made a damn fine point, without being an ass about it, that he's still good as Supes.
I saw Apt Pupil once after I think X-Men came out...I thought it was pretty good...really like McKellan after seeing that.

I so love when people do the "It's _____. Period." line. As if the entire project makes or breaks around some tart of the day.
People were saying the same thing about freakin' Dean Cain in the 90s when they were trying to get a Superman movie off the ground.

It's funny but I don't remember anyone campaigning for Dean Cain as Supes. Not saying it didn't happen but it doesn't ring a bell. He was an excellent Clark but a terrible Superman.

I remember it clear as day back then. Mostly Internet nerds who were obsessed with "continuity". As usual, a vocal minority, but nonetheless quite vocal.

I highly doubt Routh is going to be in this. Nolan is going to go his own direction with this. I wouldn't wrack my brain over casting speculations too much, Nolan typically casts people you never expected.

Nolan is not directing this. He's simply helping to get it up and going. He's the producer, not director and he may not even be a writer.

I'm well aware of that, but WB puts a lot of faith in him and he's going to have a lot of creative control on this one. He's pushing for his brother to take the director's chair. I stand by my original statements.

Well it'd be a tall order to get Michael O'Hearn in any reasonable shape (a greater task than Rip Taylor) but it's not like he could possibly hope to be as remotely buff as any of us DVDtalkers.

I think a Rip Taylor Superman would do just as well as, if not better than, any other Superman film. The character just doesn't connect to the culture in the way it used to. Superman is boring. He always has been. There's nothing interesting or human to connect to in Superman or Clark Kent. It was overlooked in the past because he was the personification of what people viewed superheroes and America to be so they were able to connect on that level with the material. That connection is gone.
I would be there for the midnight showing if Rip Taylor gets to dawn the cape though. Especially if the confetti is in 3d.
