I would buy a Director's Cut, though I must admit Superman Returns is a bit too long as is.

Did you watch the trailer? There are many scenes not used in the original. That I haven't seen anywhere else. So yes, I would like to own this.

I'd also buy a DC of this film. I think Bryan Singer did a fine job, and would like to see him return as director. However I read somewhere he is interested in returning to the X-Men films.

Also consider the fact that Warner don't plan on making a new Superman movie in years to come. So this might be a good idea to release for those that want more Superman.

That trailer felt too long and boring like Superman Returns was to me. Throwing the Superman theme out there over and over again has stopped selling me on these things.

Mark Millar running his mouth some more:
SUPERMAN BEGINS?
Over at Millarword (via Bleeding Cool), Mark Millar asks his assembled fanbase this simple question: "Obviously, there's some legal shit to sort out but anyone who thinks Superman is gone is just plum crazy. Should we pursue this aggressively, especially given the buzz on Kick-Ass is just astronomical and Matthew is being offered pretty much anything he wants to do?" Millar has wanted to get his hands on Superman for years. He was part of a cabal that included Grant Morrison and Mark Waid in the late 1990s that pitched a revamp for the character in the comics and Millar has been quite vocal in the years since about a Superman movie. While there is nothing even remotely official about this, Millar and "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaugh could indeed use the buzz surrounding them right now to get a meeting and pitch their revamp. Millar says his vision would requite retelling the origin.

Considering he doesn't get "good" cinema (having seen his top 10 of 2009 list), he's in over his head trying to get the writing gig for a Superman movie, plus he wants to do yet another origin of Superman movie because he's convinced the kids of today don't know the story of Superman, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, the Daily Planet, yadda yadda, and downplays any pop cultural seepage from the Smallville show that's been on the air for almost a decade. He's totally the wrong guy to write a Superman movie, no matter how big a fan he really is.
Plus, nothing I've see of Kick-ass is impressing me all that much, either.

My friends and I exchanged some e-mails over his remarks a few days ago. My friend seemed to think I was in agreement with Millar's comments, yet I wrong a long piece saying how I thought he was wrong.

There were, what, 8 years between Batman & Robin and Batman Begins... so I figure you can reboot Superman in 2014. I don't mind the origin being handled as long as it's organic to the overall storyline, e.g. the destruction of Krypton is integral to the big conflict in Act 3 (Brainiac? Perish the thought...) It could even be integrated via flashbacks and begin the movie with Superman as a fait accompli.
And I have more faith in Matthew Vaughn than I do in Mark Millar, but I'm up for anything new and fresh after the lukewarm leftovers of Superman Returns.
I'm hip. I'm with it. Tokka tokka tokka tokka tokka

There is much more at the link above.
EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros is trying to ready its DC Comics stalwart Superman to soar again on the Big Screen, and the studio has turned to Chris Nolan to mentor development of the movie. Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. Besides, Nolan is considered something of a god at Warner Bros and has a strong relationship with the studio after the success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Though he wasn’t obligated to do so, he gave the studio first crack at his spec script Inception, and Warner Bros was able to buy it before other studios even got a sniff. While Nolan completes that Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer for a July 16th release, he's also hatched an idea for Warner Bros' third Batman installment. Now his brother and frequent collaborator Jonah Nolan, and David Goyer who co-wrote Batman Begins and penned the story for The Dark Knight, are off scripting it. (See 'FlashForward' Showrunner Exits For Features).
Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: “It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns." Nolan coming on board follows a hiatus period for Superman after that 2006 reboot as the studio tried to figure out whether or not to make a sequel to that version starring Brandon Routh directed by Bryan Singer. As recently as this summer, Warner Bros was still contemplating how to proceed. We were told that "Bryan or Brandon are not completely out of it yet. But Warner Bros doesn't have a handle yet on it, either. [Producer] Jon Peters is trying to make something happen since he stands to benefit financially. But they [the studio] need to hear a great story that makes sense." Another insider explained to us, "We know what we don't want to do. But we don't know what we want to do. We learned a lot from the last movie, and we want to get it right this time."

Come on - it's not that hard to make a good Superman movie. We're going to be at another 5 or 6 year gap before you know it. How about they fire the people in charge at WB who a) made the wrong decisions, and b) who can't seem to make the next decision.

Well that's good news. Dump everyone but Routh.

How damn hard is it to make a good Superman movie? There are SO many stories to choose from that would likely translate well to the silver screen. Idiots.

I'm all for Nolan coming aboard as a Consultant/Producer/Co-writer or whatever they deem his value as. Definitely keep Brandon Routh when and if this ever gets made.
