I'm referring to the way the films always make Kent...well..the same Kent from the way he started I guess. Is Kent even dorky and clumsy in the modern comics? I'd swear that he's more average guy than dorky in the modern comics. Just make Clark Kent a fucking man. Make him be a damn fine reporter always getting the scoop on Supes faster than Lois Lane ever can. Jealousy and romance continues between the two. Big Disaster happens. Supes gets his ass kicked. Supe survives and kicks the villain's ass. End of Story.
Let's say that in a world where Hamm became Superman. The only great counterpart to him on the female side of things is fucking Carla Gugino. She's an adult woman. Hamm is an adult man. Both good looking and appealing to both genders in the audience.
Anyway...how about we stop having Clark be a dumbass? That'd be nice to get rid of.

Clark in the comics is very much how you describe him, Snake. He's a best selling author and former editor-in-chief of both The Daily Planet and Newstime. He was also the first reporter to get an exclusive interview with Superman, rather than Lois Lane (although she still is the one who gave him that name).

See...I respect that image that Clark was and don't mind it for the era that it was used. BUT today? I don't want that. I want a strong and confident, but not egotistical, Clark. Superman is Superman...I don't want much to change with him..just..maybe...things to get more serious for him. Clark Kent of past doesn't mix well w/ the world of today. Just make that Modern comics CK into the film version.

Superman Searches for Director
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=70089
Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas have started interviewing directors for the upcoming Superman reboot, reports Deadline.
The rumored list includes Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Battle: Los Angeles and just-signed for Clash of the Titans 2), Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), Tony Scott (True Romance, Unstoppable), and Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300).
The article suggests that a decision will be made in the next few weeks so that production on the project can be fast-tracked to make a 2012 release.

Fuck no to Tony Scott.
Based on that list either Matt Reeves or Zack Snyder.
I don't think Jones has enough of a track record to get this gig, but at least he's being considered. I actually like Liebesman and he may have a shot based on the advance word on B:LA. He's probably in the same boat as Jones.

I wouldn't mind a Superman directed by Tony Scott; obviously there would be less flair with the FX and shaky-cam but he knows how to make iconic shots and would be the safest bet to start off the new franchise. Seeing as how the Nolans and Goyer are involved, that's a very safe place for Scott to direct in.

I like Snyder the most of all those listed, but I don't think his visual style would work in a Supes film.
I'd like to see it go to either Jones or Reeves, as both show great potential to craft a unique film.

IF Snyder got it....I don't think Nolan would let it be the same as Snyder's other stuff visually in a way. Probably less slo mo for sure.

Jones or Reeves for me. Although Snyder has shown great visual potential with Watchmen and 300. What Superman needs the most nowadays is a good storyteller that makes us care bout the guy again

Chances are they will hire someone not even listed. Wait, better chance that this thread is still kicking around in three years with no one yet attached to the director seat. lol
