Disney is giving The Sound of Music the UHD treatment later this year.

The Walt Disney Co. on Feb. 20 announced it is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the 1965 musical sensation The Sound of Music with a 4K film restoration and a series of worldwide special events. As part of the festivities, the film will be re-released to theaters and appear on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray later this year.

Re: UHD release announcements

Are there manufacturing or disc errors with the Panic Room 4k Steelbooks?

It is out of stock and on backorder everywhere.

It seems like it’s just not printing enough to meet demand. There have been complaints about revisionism but nothing I’ve seen beyond that.

Re: UHD release announcements

That A&C set is nice but once you have seen one of those films, you have seen them all. And the quality just sinks more and more after each consecutive one.

Re: UHD release announcements

Notable upcoming anime releases from Japan (no English subtitles):

via Aniplex (Japan) - May 9:

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train
https://kimetsu.com/anime/mugenressh...age/uhdbd.html

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To The Swordsmith Village- / Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To The Hashira Training-
https://kimetsu.com/anime/worldtour/UHDBD/

Both noted as HDR10. Aniplex of America could eventually release Mugen Train. I'm not sure if they will bother with -To The Swordsmith Village- / -To The Hashira Training- (TV series: Swordsmith Village Arc episode 11 & Hashira Training Arc episode 1).

***

via Happinet - July 2:

Dragon Ball DAIMA Blu-ray Box Deluxe Edition

BD (4 discs) + 4K UHD (3 discs - SDR) | 20 episodes

https://dragonballdaima.com/bddvd.html

The assumption is Crunchyroll will eventually release DAIMA on BD. 4K UHD will likely be a maybe? If it gets released here, there will likely be a very long wait.

Wow Scent of A Woman!

I will get that for sure.

Maybe I should have waited before buying the What Lies Beneath Blu-ray

Tombstone is coming to 4k on 4/22. Nice looking steelbook but hate to think what Disney will charge for it.

Can't wait for this. Wish the director's cut was included but still likely a day one purchase for me.

I imagine the preorders for that started March 14th of this year, but since it is already sold out maybe they started in 2024? (Or am I just repeating your joke?)

I really hate these exorbitantly overpriced steelbook editions.

Re: UHD release announcements

No offense to Wayne's World 2 which I think I like more than most but no, no it's not. I'd even say Austin Powers 2 > Wayne's World 2 and I think the first Wayne's World is the best thing Mike Myers has ever been involved with.

Cool that it's being released though.

Re: UHD release announcements

It seemed Wayne's World 2 went deeper with spoofing Jim Morrison and Kung Fu movies

Re: UHD release announcements

I remember liking Wayne's World 2 back in the day, but it was always in a "this is fun, but it's not the first movie fun" kind of way.

Re: UHD release announcements

I thought the story was pretty lame (and that’s saying a lot for a Wayne’s World movie), but the jokes were pretty funny and made it watchable.
