Re: UHD release announcements

I wish they would go ahead and release the Ace movie as a double feature with the sequel...because you know that is coming eventually. Just go ahead and do it at the same time.

When Nature Calls is actually funnier to me than the first one.

Re: UHD release announcements

Shout had the Blu Ray Steelbook deluxe set on sale of Battle Beyond The Stars for 50% off multiple times, and I snagged the set a couple years back. You get the Steelbook Blu, a lithograph, and the NECA toy for something like $35 when it was half off, quite the deal. The 4K would have to be a really highly praised PQ upgrade for me to double-dip via a future Shout Sale.

I want to add to the chorus that while it is great that Clueless is getting a UHD, as the film is a classic comedy, oof...that cover (my eyes, lol!!). The cover to Road Trip is also just beyond lazy and lousy, for a fun film that I think I saw in theaters (so, not a classic comedy like Clueless, but a fondly remembered comedy nonetheless). Of the two, Road Trip would have to be super cheap in a future sale for me to buy, but Clueless should get added to my collection asap.

Unless I’m completely misremembering, that’s the original theatrical poster art.

Re: UHD release announcements

It's awkwardly worded in Variety, but it sounds like Rocky Horror Picture Show will be coming this year:

The musical cult classic’s half-century milestone will be celebrated with a new 4K Ultra remaster that will be released in theaters and on Blu-ray later this year.

It is, but the Blue Underground release is pretty good. At least I think so.

Aside from a very tiny number of discs that use some software tricks, UHD discs aren't region-coded, so you can import away, if you'd like. (Sometimes discs of extras can be region-coded, though, since those are regular ol' Blu-ray.) You can order from a place like Atomic Movie Store, Orbit DVD, Brother Belial, or Diabolik DVD if you'd rather order from a place in the US; they're my go-tos for discs from other countries.

Blue Underground does have their own UHD release of the movie stateside from five years back, FWIW.

If you're worried about being able to play it, it's just a single 4K UHD disc and UHD discs aren't region-locked. I have several UK-only Arrow UHDs and they all play in my player just fine.

if you're worried about the cost of importing, that's another issue.

I second the recommendation of OrbitDVD. I've purchased from them online and in-store and they're great.

You are correct, and the more that I think about it I can't immediately recall any scene in the film that stands out to me that could have been adapted into an image to sell the film. I also just googled Clueless and American Pie thinking their original film posters were more creative, but nope...seems some pretty good comedies had lousy posters. I guess I need to stop thinking that my memory is full of great poster images used to advertise comedies.

Heck, I even googled Airplane! film poster images and that iconic comedy also had an okay at best poster image (plane tied in a knot).

Artwork for the standard 4K edition of Lethal Weapon. Comes out June 24. Looks like there are two new featurettes. One about the late Dick Donner. Donner's legacy commentary wasn't brought over.

Re: UHD release announcements

I love this film (heck, love the whole run of LW films) and I have seen the alternate cut only once before so this is tempting in that you get both versions and a digital code. The thing is, I agree with one of the commenters under the Twitter announcement, that it would be ideal for me to wait for a boxed UHD set of the series, but not sure that will happen anytime soon.

Again, super tempting because this film is one I have seen at least a half dozen times (probably more like close to 10 times at least). I saw that the steelbook was out of stock on Diabolik, and if it was in stock I probably would have pulled the trigger and picked it up.

This is such an iconic action film franchise and better late than never to get high quality UHD releases.

Re: UHD release announcements

I’ve been waiting to upgrade my dvds for a while. I’m glad the extended cut is finally available. I’d normally wait for a box set like with the Dirty Harry or NOES films, but I don’t want to run the risk of them making the set theatrical only.

I always liked that movie although I haven’t seen it in ages. I remember seeing it a few times in the theater.

Nice new trailer from WB. I'd kind of like to know what they plan to do with the sequels before buying the first one.

Re: UHD release announcements

I did love Knight Rider as a kid. I probably don't need to own it though, especially in 4K. Not sure how well it holds up today.
