Re: UHD release announcements

It may be posted in one of the other threads, but Warners has cancelled all the special editions of Se7en that included all the bonus "swag" and announced that the 2025 4K releases will just be a standard edition and a steelbook - no editions with booklets, photos, etc.

Re: UHD release announcements

Jean-François Laguionie’s

Gwen and the Book of Sand

coming to 4K Dolby Vision HDR and Blu-ray

GWEN AND THE BOOK OF SAND (GWEN ET LE LIVRE DE SABLE) – 1985, La Traverse Films, 64 min. "Why search the sand for answers? It has told us everything,” whispers Roseline (voiced by Michel Robin), the 173-year old desert nomad narrator of French director Jean-François Laguionie’s hauntingly poetic animated feature of life after the apocalypse, where the few hardy survivors walk on stilts from well to well, scorpions glow like lanterns, and the enigmatic Makou drops giant mysterious objects – forks, eyeglasses, bathtubs – from the skies. Into this desolate science-fiction landscape, part-DUNE, part-FURY ROAD, emerges the story’s teenage heroine, Gwen (voiced by Lorella Di Cicco), who refuses to stay silent and hide in the shadows – and whose love for teenage boy Nokmoon, kidnapped by the Makou and its followers, will drive her and Roseline on an epic journey across the endless sands, “the still silence of chaos and oblivion." A sublime and breathtaking masterpiece of world animation, GWEN… is on par with René Laloux’s FANTASTIC PLANET, Hayao Miyazaki’s NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND and Mamoru Oshii’s ANGEL’S EGG as a visually stunning and truly otherworldly experience, interwoven with surreal and dreamlike moments: a pillow fight in the desert; phantom projections of red UFOs in the night sky; a mystery cult who worship an ancient product catalog and sing gorgeous hymns to fireworks and a watering can made of galvanized steel. In French with English subtitles.

Re: UHD release announcements

I've been blind buying these Jean Rollin titles, haven't watched any yet, but I'll keep buying these.

And I've never heard of that Gwen movie, looks very nice. If it really does compare to Nausicaa then I'm very interested.

Day 1. I don’t spend $27 to 30 much on new titles, but that was worth it.

I hope they eventually do a Deadpool trilogy 4K Steelbook. I am gonna wait for that since I have yet to buy the other two in 4K. It is bound to happen sooner or later.

Re: UHD release announcements

Gonna gamble on finding the regular 4K with a slipcover in a brick and mortar store. Want to try to match the rest of my FoX-Men movies.

Re: UHD release announcements

Definitely grab Alien: Romulus, excited to see a new Alien story.

I thought I had a Blu of Shaun of the Dead but it's just the DVD so I may watch out for that steelbook.

I was thinking the same thing. But then I figured "the 4K should have come out with the BD. I'm not buying it again." I'm tired of this crap.

Universal works with so many boutique labels that I generally assume that any new feature-length release they put out that’s BD-only — especially on the horror side of things — will eventually get a UHD release from Arrow, Shout, etc. That hasn’t been the case 100% of the time, but that’s how things frequently shake out.

Wow. I assume Second Sight must have exclusivity over their rather impressive set of extras?

Re: UHD release announcements

Coming in December from Terror Vision (in both an $80 edition limited to 300 copies and a less-limited edition of 2,500). $45 is a lot to swallow, but I loved, loved, loved this gloriously ridiculous movie in the VHS days and don’t think I can resist.

THIS ITEM IS A PRE-ORDER AND WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL DECEMBER!!!

THIS AIN'T NO FAIRY TALE!

An ancient evil is inadvertently unleashed on modern day Los Angeles in this shocker from the creators of Leprechaun. In a mysterious antique shop, a young mother whose police officer husband was recently killed in the line of duty comes across an unusually carved “wishing stone” that she cannot resist. But little does she realize that her one casual wish to see her husband one last time will free the demonic Rumpelstiltskin trapped inside the rock for over 500 years. Now armed with nothing more than a fairy-tale legend, a young mother must fight to defend what she holds most dear against an evil that will stop at nothing to steal her infant son’s soul!

Terror Vision is incredibly proud to bring this video store staple to home video in HD for the very first time in the world! Not only in HD but a UHD with a HDR color grade approved from the director Mark Jones and FINALLY in its original aspect ratio.

This Limited Edition Includes:

Rigid Box with art by Ghoulish Gary Pullin

Slipcover by Chloe Manon

UHD and BD of Rumpelstiltskin

Perfectly Bound Booklet w/ writing from Writer/Director Mark Jones, Composer Charles Bernstein, Dr. Jack Zipes (Professor Emeritus University of Minnesota), Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Erica Shultz, Yasmina Ketita, Graham Skipper, Ryan Verrill, and an Archival Written Interview w/ Mark Jones from John Campopiano from Fangoria.com.

CD of the Rumpelstiltskin Score

11x17 Poster

4x6 Postcard
