As of right now the UK is four discs. Two cuts on UHD and two Blu rays which have the special features. The US is just getting a UHD set.
I’ve just decided that this will be one of those “wait for a huge price drop” purchases. I’m tired of playing the whole “if you don’t buy this shitty version, the studios will think there is no interest and not release a better version down the road to ALSO purchase” game.

Hopefully Sneakers and Lost in Translation aren't released the same day or month, gonna be expensive otherwise as I want both.

I would get LiT first, if it was me.

Re: UHD release announcements

The Sneakers Blu-ray was excessively dim for some reason. Really hoping that HDR grade can fix that.

It only has more crap in a bigger case than the Ultimate which was available through Diabolik. Disc content was the same.

To be clear though, the disc content of the UK release is not the same as the US release. The US release just has a couple of commentaries. The UK release has several documentaries and other extras. I think that was Darth Maher's point.

Re: UHD release announcements

The book in the Ultimate is a BFI exclusive, though. It's as if WB released the set here, with a book published by Criterion.

If I was able to snap the UK version. I had posted that Diabolik was getting some. It was up to him to check their site. There were other sites that was getting the Bible version. And they import to U.S.. I guess it depended on how badly one wanted this before resorting to the secondary market.

And now that William Friedkin just passed away, the FOMO will kick into overdrive for all of his films on physical media.

Re: UHD release announcements

Why not release the super deluxe version in the US? Why just Amazon UK?

Weird decision.

Again, I don't think that was the point though. The point was one shouldn't have to resort to seeking out a UK release that had limited availability just to get all of the extra features that already existed and could have easily been included in the US release.

Kevin totally has my back here. The Exorcist is an American movie released by an American studio, yet The US is totally getting the shaft. I'm not saying the UK shouldn't get the extras, I'm saying the US shouldn't NOT be getting them.
And... the UK cost more... both for the product and the shipping as well. It shouldn't be this damn difficult to give them our money.

Lastly, I had heard the Diabolik doesn't ship to the US. Am I incorrect in this?

Totally agree with you.

I have bought from Diabolik before so they must ship to the U.S.

Re: UHD release announcements

I love ordering stuff from Diabolik. They will package a single disc in a regular amray case like it is a priceless Faberge Egg.

I nuked my twitter account a few months back when it was clear Musk was going to drive it into the ground, we may need to move away from posting direct links like this because it won't open for me at all, just a thought, thanks.

Re: UHD release announcements

The big question is will that 4 disc version have the black and white version in 4k. It kinda looks like that's what's implied with the two gray discs in gerrythedon's pic. It'd be nice to see a confirmation though before pre-ordering.

Disc 1 = TC 4K
Disc 2 = B&W 4K

Disc 3 & 4 will be the BD and special features disc, I believe.
