Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

My target only had 8 copies, atleast 2 of them were gone within the first minute of the store opening. I'm glad I got one!!!!

I'm sure they got them. They're probably in the back in a box. Some of these stores are clueless.

The store I went to had three, thought I lucked out, later I saw them restocking the shelf. There were about 20-30 added.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

There were at least 25 copies at opening at the 76th & Brown Deer, Milwaukee store. This is a smaller store, so I tend to agree that Adam just got a clueless employee (which completely sucks).

I should also add that most of them were on an display by the front registers and only a few were in the normal Media section.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

Mine had 30+ steelbooks split between the front register and the bluray area. Looked like another 10 or so had already been sold by 9:30a...

That's weird, on Best Buy's front page they list it as being a Steelbook.

Can anyone confirm length and disc type for the Target and Best Buy exclusives?

Read in a couple of places the extras are on a separate DVD. The Best Buy exclusive has a hub to hold the DVD, and the Target has the disc shoved in a sleeve.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

Couldn't find the Steelbook at first in Target. Two guys went in the back to "look for it". I was on my way out of the store and saw them by the registers.

I'm disappointed with the quality of the painting/printing on this one, though. Every single copy had multiple small chips. Worse than it usually is with these.

Mine had a couple too, but I didn't care. Fantastic artwork/design!

At around 8:30am (4/16/13), Novato, CA store had about 26 total on the floor.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

For some reason my Target kept all the steelbooks at the electronics counter. Everything on the floor by the registers or in the media section were the regular packaging.

Hate the extra disc thrown in there, I might just toss it.

My Target must've had over 50+ Steelbooks.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

Not really sure how many my Target had. Didn't see any next to the registers so went to the electronics section.
Of course there were about 15 red shirts in a circle having a morning meeting right in front of the new releases display.
I snuck around back and a nice employee turned around and asked if I needed anything. Asked for two of the steel books and he picked them off the rack and then handed them to me. Luckily in great shape so I didn't have to uber-geek out and look for the perfect copy.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

I blew past the cash registers and went right to Electronics since I was on my lunch break and there were no copies to be found. The clerk said if they weren't any then that's it, but quipped there may be a copy or two by the front registers. I went up to them and sure enough there was probably 30 or 40 copies up front. No worry about shortage, compared to The Avengers when there was only 5 copies with the bonus disc at this store at noon the day it came out.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

Some big fat mouth breather was at my Target today clutching about 50 copies of the steelbook under his meaty arms. I was there getting something else since I have no interest in this film but it pissed me off just the same.

I went to Target at Lunch today, and there were still a ton of steelbooks to be found, both by Electronics and in the front by the registers.

Irritating because you know that shit is going on eBay. Guess he's a capitalist, but I prefer movie fans to get a copy at a reasonable price.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

Ordered the Best Buy SteelBook online for store pickup. Had a $10 gift card, so it came out to about $15 with tax.

Will swing by after work to pick it up.

^Just FYI it's not a Steelbook, it's a Digipack in larger, collectible packaging.

Ok. So the features are DVD based? Fuck that. This is 2013, I want 1080p special features for new films. Or at the very least have it on the BD.

Re: Django Unchained -- 4/16/13

No problem, it still looked pretty nice and comes with some sort of exclusive bonus material.

So Best Buy doesn't actually have a Steelbook. There's a couple of screens on their Web site that say "Steelbook" that are just incorrect. Only Target has a Steelbook in the United States .
