Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

It may be a blessing in disguise if Paramount was planning on putting in the theatrical cut only in the briefcase set. I guess once we actually get specs, we'll know.

And I'm guessing those steelbooks will quickly become collector's items. Just got back from Best Buy, they were just bring them out (10 total), and I was the third person to grab one. I'm assuming they'll go very quick.

And just curious, but do people use those Sideshow Collectable gift cards? I've never used one before. Don't plan to either.

If they switch from "briefcase" to "collectible packaging", that may just be what I need to drop it.

Because this is the only time I'm going to ever do this preorder for the case crap, because that looks way better than the normal covers.
When you put down your $7 for the preorder, you walk out of the store with the empty case. There's nothing forcing you to follow through with the preorder if the case itself is worth $7 to you. Order whichever version of the movie you want from Amazon, and you'll probably save that much anyway.

Best Buy employees who don't have a clue. Shocking.

So far, the reports from those that have seen these are saying that they are very limited.

What's stopping the BB employees from stashing these away and buying it for themselves or releasing only to family/friends?

I think Disney dropped the ball on this one by not making enough.

Why would it be Disney's fault if this is a Best Buy exclusive? Same happens with most steelbooks that come out, especially exclusives.

oh no, panic, panic

these were just put out and some stores probably haven't had their merchandisers visit yet to even put them out

nothing in particular is stopping BB empolyees from buying all of them just like they can buy any and everything in the store if they have the funds to do so .... supply and demand in the end will show it won't be a wise investement for them to bother

there were 10+ at my store and I'm sure they will be restocked between now and release date if sell through warrants

a little patience goes a long way

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

I went to BB in York, PA yesterday, looking for the Avengers case. I didn't see it anywhere, even though they had a sign up over some Marvel DVDs/BDs on an endcap, so I asked a worker about it. He was looking around all over and asking people and no one knew what was up, and couldn't find it in the system. Luckily someone else was looking for it too, and he looked up the SKU online (I think at Blu-ray.com and the guy found it in the system, and it said they had some. Then, he went in the back and had to just go through boxes until he found them.
So, after a simple 30+ minute stop at BB, I had one

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

My best buy had at least 15 of them... probably more. I woulnd't worry.

If anyone REALLY can't find one, I'm sure someone can snatch one up for you.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

Went to my BB today and none of the Avengers metal cases were put out. Talked to 4 employees and NONE of them had a clue as to what I was talking about. Don't let them give you that BS about not having them, they got them in the back. Manager sent somebody in the back to look for them. About 30 min. later I had one. I was told they have an entire floor display of them that will be put out next week (I think she said the 2nd which would be on Sunday, but don't quote me). I was told they had to hold some back in order to put them in the display and that was why they did not have them out.

You assume Best Buy employees care about Steelbooks as much as folks here or the Blu-Ray forums do.

I plan on watching the movie...not mounting it on the wall or sticking it in a display case.
