No promises were made. In fact, you knew Lucas would make more changes. Instead of making new films, Lucas just decides to update his old ones. His creative well ran dry.
I pre-ordered this set too but I cancelled when I realized the bonus features didn't do enough to justify it over my 2004 SE DVDs since I knew the UOT wasn't going to be there. The additional changes just solidifies my resolve. |

Do we know if there are any alterations to the prequels? I don't care about 'em, I'm just curious...

My star wars "no" analysis...
Episode 1: Obi-Wan's "Noooo" = Good Episode 2: Qui-Gon's "Noooo" = terrible, bad dub, doesn't sound like Qui-Gon, garbage... Episode 3: Anakin's "Noooo" = Good Episode 3: Darth Vader's "Noooooooooo" = Embarassing Episode 4: Luke's "Noo!" = Good Episode 5: Luke's "Nooooooooooooooo (breathe) nooooooooooooooooo" = Say what you will, but I dig it. Episode 6: Luke's "Never/No/Nyah!!! scream" = Epic, awesome, friggin' amazing... Episode 6: Vader's new "Noo. Noooooooo" = picard facepalm |

To Her: @KRLgrrl Hey Katie, has your dad ever expressed to you why he persists on the Greedo-Han controversy even though he knows fans hate it? @James_Faupel well Han never shot first. He doesn't persist on anything, its the fans that insist on keeping the debate alive. http://twitter.com/#!/KRLgrrl/status/14041985950154752 @Zack_Parks @VideoETA haters gonna hate. And then haters are going to buy the bluray set and keep complaining. http://twitter.com/#!/KRLgrrl/status/65855370068893697 P.S. This girl needs a life. It was hard to find those tweets because she tweets literally around 50 times a day. EDIT: Welp, I see the news that it was confirmed. Today during my lunch break I will be cancelling my preorder and then tweeting at Lucasfilm that I have done so. |
re: Star Wars
Oh well, I guess I can put that $90 to use elsewhere. It would have been so awesome to have the Star Wars movies on BR, though.

Amazon has the little form of "Why" when you cancel. I checked "Other" and commented "Product not as promised. I will not be ordering from anywhere. Amazon lost a sale due to Lucasfilm."
When did Amazon ever advertise that these would be unmodified? |
re: Star Wars
"Yes, the updates are confirmed. We hope fans will wait to see for themselves how they fit into the Saga before making any judgments." |

I wonder if King James did this shit with the bible.

re: Star Wars
Well, balls. I'm still looking forward to seeing what's been done to the prequels and I'd opt for just the prequel box at this point, except for those damn bonus discs... Gonna just put this on hold pending a really attractive sale. In any event, the Jurassic Park box set is now my most desired new release. It's just as well, 'cause my plan of buying Star Wars with Amazon credit redeemed with my Swagbucks was gonna take forever anyway.

ROFL, I love all the people supposedly cancelling their orders because of the addition of a simple "nooooo". rofl. fwiw, I don't believe any of you.

And it's not that I want to "stick it" to George by not buying this set. I really don't care and I'm sure he doesn't either. I just don't want to own this set because a lot of these changes really don't make the movies enjoyable anymore, plain and simple. It's like a fan was randomly changing things just as a pointless experiment, and I'm just done with it. If anyone does want to buy them, good for them and I hope they enjoy watching them. |

I was only cautiously optimistic for these Blu's ever since they were announced, since I was fairly certain that the originals wouldn't be included and that there would be even further changes. But now knowing the actual content of these changes, I'm just aghast. |

re: Star Wars
I still say Lucas is doing this shit just to make the originals more sought after when he finally releases them in ten years. Dude's crazy like a fox. He knows us losers will still buy this crap even though we're not happy about it and will be so pissed we'll buy the originals later. He's just giving us more motivation to buy the originals later.
After the Blu-rays, after 3d, and after the 3d Blu-rays, we'll get the originals on Blu right before the format dies. Lucas knows exactly what he's doing. |
re: Star Wars
Except this thread alone shows there's already a declining return on his meddlings.
I agree he plans to at some point, but it's a stretch of you to come in here and say "we". "We" ain't doin' shit. |

For the 3D releases he should have the Ewoks all speak in English but in a French accent.
