re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
You guys think Bergman's Trilogy will eventually get the blu ray treatment?
There's a great price on the box set nearby, but I'd hate to buy and then find out about a future blu release.

[mytwocents]I don't understand printing a customer Criterion cover for a film that wasn't released on BD by Criterion.[/mytwocents]

The only thing that bothers me is the comparison to the UK disc almost reads like we all already own it and in other reviews he totally disregards comparisons to a movies' HD DVD counterpart.

hmm, looks slightly more detailed with the extra grain but not that much better to upgrade over the UK disc

* New, restored digital transfer, supervised by director Brian De Palma (with DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition)
* New hour-long interview with De Palma, conducted by filmmaker Noah Baumbach
* New interview with star Nancy Allen
* Cameraman Garrett Brown on the Steadicam shots featured in the film within the film
* Select on-set photos from photographer Louis Goldman
* Original theatrical trailer
* More!
* PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by critic Michael Sragow and Pauline Kael’s original New Yorker review
I'm disappointed Criterion couldn't get John Travolta for an interview on this. I've never heard his opinion on the film so it would of been nice to hear his side of things. Plus, and it was a long-shot, but I was hoping for a film appreciation commentary track by Quentin Tarantino, or in the very least an interview. Last time I heard, "Blow-Out" was still in his top 3 favorite films of all time (The other two being "Taxi Driver" and "Rio Bravo"). He is always animated when taking about DePalma films so it would of been awesome to have him participate in this Criterion edition. I still plan to get this though as soon as I get a Blu-ray player since I still own the MGM DVD.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I would love a Tarantino Appreciation on Blow Out like they did with Ti West on House. I am still awaiting the blu-ray of The Hidden Fortress with a George Lucas Appreciation, I believe the DVD has that.
I was wondering if anyone thinks that Criterion might release A Serbian Film? With all the controversy and everything surrounding it you would think it would be a good fit. They did release AntiChrist afterall.
In fact I would love a Criterion of Irreversible too just to have a sick-o quadruple feature with Salo already being available

From what I've read about the film, I'd rather have A Serbian Film never be distributed by a major label -- especially Criterion -- and just get an indie release instead. Why, oh why, did I read Harry Knowles comments on the film and then look at those AICN talkbacks. The thing sounds disgusting.

A Serbian Film is by all accounts and description artless garbage wrapped in a flimsy package of political allegory. Read the absolutely sickening descriptions of what was cut from the UK/R2 DVD and explain to me how any of that stuff is justified?

I've been waiting to pull the trigger on the original standard release of Blow out, but Thank you for releasing it on bluray. Now I won't have to but the standard and then buy the bluray later on. But $28 is a hefty price. i'll have to save up for that.

It'll be around $18 from B & N during their Criterion sale in June or July.
