Blow Out has been teased already, so I'm guessing that.

I would also love the Three Color Trilogy

M. Hulot's Holiday would also be pretty sweet (on blu-ray)

I'm still enjoying the reissues. I can't wait to see Tarkovsky (hmmm, Solaris?) and Fanny and Alexander in high def. Bring 'em on!

The Passion of Joan of Arc
City Lights
The Killing

Titles hinted at in the newsletters usually don't get announced until months later, so I doubt we'll see Blow Out in March.

I don't have a prediction, but I have a dream:

Blue Velvet
La Grande Illusion
Pasqualino Settebellezze
Rashomon

If my dream comes true, I will convert my house and open The First International Church of Criterion.

Since Rashomon toured with a new print this year, that one wouldn't be a stretch. Same rationale works for Mr. Hulot's Holiday. Both would be great news, but Rashomon will check an item off of my personal top five wish list.

Yes, but didn't the remaining Hulot titles revert to Studio Canal's control? Please tell me I'm wrong- I would looooooooooooooove to be wrong!

At least one Kurosawa is my prediction. Maybe Madadayo.

Only Trafic did.

oops...I left out an important part. I hope some of these will be BD versions of some current titles. I have a few I'd like to see upgraded. Fanny & Alexander and Rashomon top my list.

I missed the new print (theatrical release) but from what I've seen from the trailer - the 4K restoration looked stunning.

Sometimes a breakfast photo is just a breakfast photo.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I've seen most of David Lynch's movies, but that doesn't strike me as anything familiar. Is it a reference to Twin Peaks (which I have not seen)? They wouldn't put out a TV series on Criterion...

I guess you've never seen Twin Peaks - coffee and donuts figured quite prominently on the show and in the film.

I see a Wacky C doughnut. It seems more of a hint than a breakfast photo, but I don't know what for.

I've indeed seen Twin Peaks and I recall coffee and pie. A damn fine piece of pie, at that.

I'd dig a Criterion release of the Twin Peaks pilot. After that, the series slowly went downhill and the movie was terrible, IMO.

Maybe those are Stan Mikita doughnuts and we're looking at a Criterion Wayne's World boxset?

Maybe they were just enjoying their breakfast this morning and wanted to share?

I think the idea is that coffee and donuts also figure into people's average, non-Lynchian lives. If I take a photo of coffee and donuts, I guess it could be about "Twin Peaks". If I take a photo of a bicycle, with a flower, a Speak 'N Spell and a bag of Reese's Pieces in the basket, I'm probably making a reference to E.T., because we don't all ride around in bikes carrying those things on a daily basis. (At least I don't.)

Why are people so excited for the possibility of "Fire Walk With Me"? It's not a good movie, and almost single handedly destroyed everything that was good about Twin Peaks.

Having recently watched the series and the film for the first time, I thought the series was consistently great up until the 17th or 18th episode, and then I only liked bits and pieces after that. And while I find David Lynch a bit hit and miss, I thought the movie was rather fantastic - one of the most genuinely horrifying films I've ever seen - and a fitting finale to the series.

And, more generally, the film seems to have a gained a pretty large following in the past twenty years, with many considering it among Lynch's best work. So it's not too much of a surprise that people would be excited for the possibility of it receiving a Criterion release.

Another FWWM lover here. So it's not like it doesn't have its supporters. And it is at least better than the James Hurley leaves Twin Peaks plot line. Season 2 had a lot of bad going on, but the finale was excellent.

Don't be silly. They wouldn't post an image that inherently mundane unless it had some sort of significance.
