I don't think Criterion would ever, and I mean ever, associate the country Hungary with the word "hungry".

FWIW, Colin Cowherd's favorite movies:
1. Shawshank Redemption 2. Platoon 3. Silence of the Lambs 4. The Shining 5. The Usual Suspects 6. Wall Street 7. Goodfellas 8. Apollo 13 9. Terms of Endearment 10. Presumed Innocent Eh, I guess it's none of those either. |

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Apparently Nov. 1st through the 22nd. With every sale in the past, any title released during the sale is valid, including preorders for anything coming out over the next few weeks.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I'm disappointed 12 Angry Men won't be included, but it looks like - gasp! - Netflix will actually be carrying it, so I'll at least be able to watch the film and the extras.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Went to my local B&N store yesterday and had them set aside a copy of Dazed and Confused. I also put my name in for the Three Colors Trilogy.
Now to decide what else to get... |

Damn. Not too thrilled about Sans Soleil.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I'm assuming La Jetee will be included again? Either way, it's an intriguing documentary/visual essay, but not one I feel the need to upgrade.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
No need to upgrade and weren't we supposed to get Grin Without a Cat?

This Blu-ray looks... amazing. Huge thumbs up on the appearance. I am really impressed. Plus, the blu-ray doesn't have the awesome commentary (but arguarbly makes up with a ton of other supplemental material) either which means I would have to keep the dvd (and I don't believe Criterion makes 2-disc blu cases :)). I dunno, great movie, just not feeling this edition. |

Small improvement I'll go along with, but there isn't a real wow factor among the screenshots.

I own probably about a dozen Criterion, but honestly...I am not seeing where the blu-ray is a huge improvement over the 50th anniversary dvd (which I own). It is certainly an improvement over the other dvd editions but not so much the 50th. Small improvement I'll go along with, but there isn't a real wow factor among the screenshots.

Following hasn't been mentioned since that initial announcement. As much as I'd like to see it released, so that all of Nolan's films will be available on Blu-Ray, I don't imagine it's as high on Criterion's list as other releases... |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
via hints from Twitter - it looks like these are some of what we'll see announced today...
Vanya on 42nd Anatomy of a Murder Three Outlaw Samurai Tiny Furniture World on a Wire |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
So many sales have gone by where I've wanted to pick up Anatomy Of A Murder. But I've always held out hoping Sony would see the light and release this either on Bd or at least matted to the more traditional theatrical ratio (which has been the case with oversees DVD releases and where the framing looks to my eyes, much better).
The Criterion release will be very much appreciated. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
super excited for Anatomy of a Murder and World on a Wire.
