Repo Man cover rocks. Definitely in for that one.
Might also get Gate of Hell. Naked Lunch upgrade? Eh, maybe. |

4 out of the 5 were in the January drawing. I hope they'll have more surprises in store for the rest of the year.

There has been a lot of talk about the new 1984 cover. I don't think that necessarily means Criterion will be releasing it. I'd love it if they did though.
Would love to see Criterion do the movie. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
that Repo Man cover is sick and i am all over that and Naked Lunch!

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Will get all of those unless Gate of Hell and Repo Man arent much different to the MoC releases tansfer wise.
The Etaix set looks interesting, have no idea about those films. Naked Lunch, dont like the film, but it should look great on blu. And the Kobayashi eclispe set is a must too. But those covers are hideous. |

Definitely in for Repo Man & Gate of Hell. Don't own either on BD.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Definitely will upgrade on Richard III, but between my old DVD and the MoC Blu-Ray, is there anything new on the CC Repo Man?
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I want a blu-ray of Ian McKellan's Richard III, and since that was an MGM title, I think Criterion could make it happen - would've been cool to co-release with the Oliver version.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I'm soooo hoping that Friedkin gets Sorcerer to CC. C'mon, CC. You know you want to have the great original AND the fucking awesome Friedkin remake. Make it so, CC.

Apparently there's been some speculation that Scanners is one of the films hinted at in the New Year's cartoon. I'd love a Criterion edition of Scanners.
Even more, I would love a Criterion edition of Shivers. I read a comment on some site that Criterion posted a picture of Cronenberg visiting their offices on their Facebook page months ago? |

I've still got my old AB tin for Repo Man. I'll have to rewatch it to determine if it's worth upgrading. Haven't watched it in years.

Scanners, indeed would be nice, but Shivers... I have little urge to see that again. Is it possible he was in the office for the Naked Lunch Blu-ray? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
SCANNERS is 100% going to happen
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
What proof is there of scanners? Just curious. I'd love it.
Hell, just do a Early Cronenberg set that includes Scanners, Shivers, Rabid, and The Brood. I guess "Fast Company" could be left out as it doesn't really fit and Blue Underground put out a pretty good blu of it already. |

I would be okay with Scanners or Shivers.

Is the guy in the left window, third from the top, supposed to be the exploding head from Scanners? If so, they should've put glasses on him.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
All of the Tati movies are officially out of print, according to criterion.com. I went ahead and snagged one of the last remaining copies of the Playtime blu off of Amazon just a minute ago.

The pic again for those that missed it. slowcloud, Naked Lunch is also a part of this pic, so yes, a blu is on the way.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Naked Lunch was already announced by Criterion last month to confirm the hint in the new years pic.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Well, there you go, but that clue still could be referring to Babette's Feast as well.

I could swear I remember seeing somewhere that The Brood was announced for Blu-ray from another distributor ...
But there are also people who say that the clue is for Babette's Feast, not Naked Lunch. I get that it could be interpreted either way, but it would be a late lunch, if the time on the clock is to be believed. I'm not saying it's not coming, just that the clue on that picture is hardly definitive. |

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I wonder if that's only for the 3 DVD-only releases or also for Playtime? I have a hard time seeing where the latter can be improved.
ETA: I just saw that the BD transfer comes from a print-down source instead of an original 65mm, so I guess there's one area where things could be improved. |
