I can dig it.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Badass.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I really like The Darjeeling Limited cover.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Okay, that's much better. That last cover was very disappointing.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Awesome cover! I can't wait to get the Darjeeling Limited Blu-ray. I've wanted it like this since I saw it opening night at a local theater. This is my favorite Wes Anderson film!
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Aaaah! I love Eric Anderson's artwork for his brother's films' home video releases. That are so iconic.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
How is Darjeeling compared to Anderson's other flicks? I enjoyed Life Aquatic and loved Royal Tenenbaums. Any better, worse, etc?

I actually liked the first version a lot. Less is more, I think. New one looks too complicated. Not too bad though, and I'll certainly buy it.

I love that cover. Very much in line with the Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore art.

I've seen them all except for Life Aquatic and Fantastic Mr. Fox. I don't understand what you mean by that comment, though...

Gotcha, I haven't noticed that though.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Has anyone received a corrected copy of Walkabout from Criterion yet? I emailed them a month and a half ago about mine and they said that they didn't have corrected discs yet and I was going to wait until I heard that people are getting fixed discs before sending mine in.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
.....ok...I bought Walkabout in June...yet to see it. What was the issue?
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
On some players it begins to stutter and freeze up at the 52 minute mark. There is also very long load times on the disc.
Here's the page from the CC site talking about the problem: http://www.criterion.com/current/pos...turing-problem |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
What's wrong with the Walkabout blu-ray?

No announcement today?

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like we always go through this on Fridays. As far as I can remember, they generally wait until the 15th to make an announcement. If that falls on a weekend, expect an announcement shortly thereafter. Haven't they been consistent with this?

One of our readers wrote in with a little nugget of rumor gold, and we wanted to share that with you all. We all know that MGM isn’t in the greatest shape these days, and that Criterion is slowly releasing some of their titles. Last week, during our discussion of Che with Moises Chiullan, we got to musing about the inevitable inclusion of Zwigoff’s 2001 film, Ghost World. According to our reader, who spoke with Zwigoff, Criterion has been approached about Ghost World, and it would appear that the ball is rolling on it’s release. It could be anywhere from 6 months, to a year before things get started, but it’s highly likely that this will happen. |

Funny. I remember having a conversation eons ago about Ghost World and whether I'd upgrade it to HD -- with my answer being something of a naive "no". Three years embedded in the HD format have obviously changed me, because the prospect of a Ghost World Blu-ray has me very, very excited. |

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Ghost World is one of my favorite films. I would kill for a Criterion Blu-ray.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I haven't watched Ghost World since the year it came out... I remember liking it. I'd definitely pick it up.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Ghost World seems like an ideal candidate for a Criterion release. It was generally well-regarded by critics and has a cult following. Yet it wouldn't be a big seller, so the studio (MGM) wouldn't have a strong desire to keep it for itself.
What happened to Thora Birch, anyway? |

Actually saw Ghost World for the first time a few weeks back. I'd be up for a Criterion BD version.
