Whoa.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I love that Antichrist cover. I'm so glad I didn't buy the UK release. Anyone know the release date?
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Totally amazing month. I actually happened to be on Criterion's site as they were updating one title at a time, every time I reloaded I would gasp!
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I know all those titles have been announced already, but it's still damn amazing.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Amazing month! I am definitely in for the BBS Story. I might wait on Chaplin (wondering if they will release a box set down the line of all of their acquisitions?)
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Amazing month! Most excited for Modern Times.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Wow, thank you Criterion, I will now be officially broke during the November sale.
The BBS Story set looks kind of cool, I am only familiar with Easy Rider, so that will be a blind buy for me. Night of The Hunter on the other hand, is on the top of the list. I cannot wait for that one (:fingercrossed: Cape Fear :fingerscrossed: ). On a related note, doesn't Criterion own all the Chaplin films now? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I can go without seeing Antichrist again, which was worth one screening but not something I'd care to revisit again. Everything else, however, is essential.:up:
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Definitely going to pick up The Night of the Hunter and perhaps Modern Times (which would be my first Charlie Chaplin film). Still iffy on Antichrist - not into horror films, but I'm extremely curious about this one in particular.

Great, great month.
And to the above poster, I wouldn't classify Antichrist as pure horror, it's so much more. |

Holy God!

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Surprised to see America Lost and Found is reasonably priced by Critierion standards. I was uncommitted when it was rumored, but I'll happily add that to my November Barnes and Noble list, along with NoTH and Modern Times.
Very glad to see Charles Laughton Directs “The Night of the Hunter,” a two-and-a-half-hour archival treasure trove of outtakes from the film, on the NoTH release. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
In addition to what everyone else is saying, it's nice to see another straight month of all Blu-ray releases.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
So was that just a rumor Ghostworld would be coming to Criterion? I love that movie.
Also when are we gonna see Ghost Dad getting the CC treatment? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Night of the Hunter, finally! A higher price point, but it's got at least four hours of extras, so I can't complain. In for Modern Times and the BBS box as well. The latter is a MAJOR bargain - 9 discs for under 50 bucks during the assumed B & N sale.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
this is insane. i'm buying them all.

Well, list price is $130, so around $65 during BN sale.

Holy, great month of Criterion releases, Batman!
What's even better is The Night of the Hunter and Modern Times comes out on my birthday!!!! God I hope the B&N sale returns in November or I'm gonna be more than just broke. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Finally, the BBS set is announced. Been looking forward to this for well over a year. It looks absolutely brilliant. Please, B&N, make sure your next sale coincides with its release, okay? ;) (If it doesn't, I'm buying it anyway...I'm not waiting until next summer for this one).
What a tremendous year for BD this is turning out to be. Apocalypse Now and this set are now my two most anticipated releases of the year. Thank you, Criterion, for making my wallet lighter yet again. EDIT: Is the listing of six discs for the BD version on their site an error? If not, then I guess two films are sharing a disc. Seems odd. |

I'm in for Modern Times and Night of the Hunter. I'm still undecided about Antichrist.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
So many films I want....
We do have another B&N sale right? Cuz if so...I'm soooooooooo blowing about $500 fast for all these and others which are like 3 previously released that I don't have yet. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Waitaminute... Waitaminute.

Not an error... Criterion announced on their Facebook page that "Drive, He Said" and "A Safe Place" would be on one blu-ray disc.
CC I really should try to keep up with that page. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Out of all of those, I'll only be getting Night of the Hunter.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
just got my cases for Bottlerocket, Chungking Express, and The Man Who Fell To Earth. Paid for it last week...and BAM...got them today. Fast service for sure....
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
haha. Yeah, supposedly 2 weeks is when you get them but a week is damn fast....
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
If I order cases for The Leopard and Che, will they send a slim 2-disc case or 2 single disc cases? If it's the latter, I won't bother for Che since that is how they come already. I'm just trying for a uniform look on my cases.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I didn't think there were cases for those two.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
^ Yeah, those cases (as well as Brakhage, etc.) are intentionally and only in the larger cardboard cases.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
For anyone interested, here is a link to every criterion title available on netflix or not. It's not my list but its certainly nice to know.
