re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I know Criterion just released a Mike Leigh film, but its about damn time someone in the States released Secrets & Lies. Mike Leigh's second best film.

As it depicts Jerry Garcia, it would've been somewhat contradictory for the to be related to the 'living' Dead. ;)

One of the Facebook Criterion hobby pages found this:
https://i.imgur.com/Q1GJb9Ll.jpg I haven't kept up, does STARZ have an agreement with Janus/Criterion? I'd sell a kidney for a boxset like this. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I can't see any picture there milo, (I'm at work) but I'm guessing it's Godzilla? Motoyoshi Oda's name was put up on Criterion.com around the same time as Romero. I figured we would get Godzilla Raids Again soon. Anything else is gravy.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
It's a screenshot from STARZ, shows several G films with the C logo on them.
It's hosted on Imgur, anybody else having trouble seeing it? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I can see it.

It also features a Johnny Depp performance before he became "Johnny Depp". And you really can't go wrong with any Jarmusch film. |

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
A work print version of NOTLD?! Love it!
Only downside is that Criterion's version doesn't come with the "One For The Fire" documentary. Maybe I need the Japanese Blu Ray too, but I'm stoked :rock2: |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Who was it that said Silence was going to be released again? ;)
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Whoa, love the new cover for Silence. Glad I never picked up the blu for it.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I compared Silence to all the previous releases on DVD and Blu-ray, and it looks like it contains substantially most of the previous bonus material.
It includes the commentary, and some deleted scenes that were exclusive to the previous Criterion DVD release. It looks like it might be missing the material from the "Breaking the Silence" picture-in-picture supplement, which had new interview material in 2009. It might also be missing outtakes and the Hopkins phone call, though those might be included in the "Deleted scenes" section. |

NOTLD and Lambs in the same month, I'm down for both.
Never heard of the Anubis version before, has that ever been mentioned? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Silence of the Lambs, no brainer. That cover is fantastic. However, I probably will keep my Criterion dvd (missing supplements) and MGM Blu-Ray (it's part of a box set w/Hannibal and Red Dragon). The next Criterion flash sale can't get here soon enough.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Very cool, now we just need a decent version of Dawn of the Dead on Blu.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
That Arrow import isn't bad. I wish the extended cut was on blu in that set though.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Would love for Criterion to get the rights to the original Dawn. Or even Scream! Factory.

amazon has NOTLD for $18.31 price matching Walmart https://www.amazon.com/Night-Living-...g+dead+blu+ray
Walmart's site also has the Silence of the Lambs for the same price https://www.walmart.com/ip/Criterion...-ray/445908644 |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I'm not 100% sure about NOTLD, but SOTL is a 2 disc set which makes it more than 50 % off since it would be 25 bucks during a half off sale.
Im not a big fan of Walmart but I had to preorder. These deals were too good. Update: NOTLD is a 2 disc set too, so pick them up while you can! |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Tried to add NOTLD to my cart, but it won't let me. Says it's no longer available, despite showing as order-able. Weird.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man will be getting the CC treatment in 2018.
