Who is that hack? Not every Criterion director can be a genius like this guy : http://d1oi7t5trwfj5d.cloudfront.net...-set-photo.jpg |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I'm so glad Criterion didn't mess with that Eraserhead cover art. It's iconic to me.

I'm surprised he didn't wait for Barnes & Noble's Criterion sale, he could have gotten it cheaper.

From today's Criterion newsletter:

They did the same clue with The Thin Red Line (except the lion was red). Where's the creativity, Criterion?

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I know this is not a direct Criterion discussion but is the line of Cohen Film Collection trying to be like the Criterion line? If so, then they really have to do something about their over-sized C that takes up a nice percentage of their covers.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Never heard of Cohen Film Collection.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
They release movies like Fahrgo and Mihller's Crohssing.

You should check them out, they have some good stuff that would be Criterion worthy by directors like Keaton, Lang, Godard, Buñuel, Chabrol, Resnais, Techine, etc.... and they also do film restoration. |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Yah, Cohen's pretty great although the only disc from them I own is Melville's Two Men in Manhattan. I've been eyeing some of the Chabrol releases lately. I agree, the giant 'c' on their artwork is kind of ugly.

Does Criterion have the rights for Watership Down? I was browsing on the iTunes movie store and they have it there under the Criterion Collection.

I'd forgotten about Fantastic Mr. Fox, damn, I didn't know they'd ever released Akira, I assume that was back in their laserdisc days?
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
