Re: Lost: Seasons One and Two on Blu-ray - June 16th, 2009

What a crock of shit. Every single season 1 set had a floater in it in the store. I checked almost ten copies. Finally said screw it, these things have coating on them. Open it up when i get home and put the disc back in, but of course every time you open it the disc comes loose. After the fourth time I open the case, the back of the case breaks completely off of it's hinges. Keep in mind, I'm gentle with my stuff. I open my season 2 case. The last disc is floating as it was with season 1. This case won't close properly because one of the clasps was broken off in the case. This just bugs me. Is there an email adress or a number I can call and demand a couple of replacement cases?

I'm also really pissed off that there are no booklets.

^I had the last disc as floaters in both of mine too - had to check about 3 copies at the store because they all sounded smashed inside (I could hear pieces of the plastic hinges moving around in most copies)... not a great case AT ALL.

Does your rebate coupon say only valid in the US and have a US mailing address? The sticker on the outside said valid in US and Canada but the actual slip inside doesn't mention Canada - just curious to see if another Canadian buyer had the same thing... if they're all like that, I'll mail off and hope for the best.

Someone please call them to find out about the booklets. I would call them myself if I knew which number to call to ask about them.

My season 2 had 1st and last disk floaters. As a bonus, there was NO rebate form at all. GRR! Is there a phone number to call them at?

I didn't get a rebate form in either one. I just got a little, shitty, folded blue ray ad, which obviously they knew I'd prefer to a booklet, a rebate coupon or a functional case. I really want to get uncomfterably loud with someone over this casing.

The original season 1 & 2 releases had bonus discs at Best Buy, each with a bonus program.

Anyone know if these bonuses made it onto the blu-ray sets?

I doubt it. Unfortunately.

Do you need to cut off both proof of purchase tabs from each set? Not just Proof of Purchase Tab A or Tab B?

I've decided I'm going to do this rebate. $20 back for each set is too good of an offer for me to pass it up.

You can try e-mailing them and request that they snail mail you the rebate forms. I did this for the Kill Bill upgrade rebate and they mailed it out right away.

Any word on if there should be booklets or not? It just seems kind of lazy since both books were already made.

No idea, but they should offer booklets anyway. There should be some way to contact them about that. It's definitely weird that booklets weren't in the sets.

Here's a picture of the spines with the slipcovers on... it actually looks less offensive to me than I thought it would.

Both my seasons 1 and 2 had the last discs as floaters as well. Ordered from Amazon. Probably didn't help that they just threw both sets in a box with no wrapping or protection at all.

Thankfully, neither of the floaters had a single scratch. BluRay!

Do the booklets from the DVD match the BDs (i.e. episodes on discs)?

Yes, at least they do for season 1. Both SD sets are 7 discs as are the BD sets so they should be content identical as far as the episodes go.

Email reply I received from them about the Rebate: "Please contact us at 800 477-2811 (Canada 888 877-2843), Monday 9:30-7:30 and Tuesday through Friday 9:30-6:30 CST. for additional assistance."

Following-up after the phone call I had with them:

They can send-out the rebate forms to your address... they will arrive to the customer service center sometime 'soon', and they will mail them out when they get them in.

I asked about the booklet inserts and she did some checking on the computer and said that there were none for Season 1 & 2 on BR. Going forward, generally it sounded like they will be doing these less and less as we all knew/suspected.

Samt thing here. I want a slipcover as well. I looked around for a while but I guess I'll have to live with it until the inevitable box set

Season 3 never had a proper "slipcover". The first batch or so had sort of a slipcover box that it came in but they seemed to stop using that after the initial run or shortly afterwards. The ones you see in a B&M are now just the set like you have "nekkid" as you say. Maybe if you poke around at a used store or a mom and pop shop you might find the original box cover but besides that I don't know what to tell you.

So Amazon refuses to honor the $34.99 price on one of the seasons. First e-mail they said something about $48.99 is the current price so that is what I was charged. Second e-mail they said the $34.99 was a price "error" and they "deeply regret" that they cannot honor that price.

My sets showed up today and each had a single floater. Not a huge deal since BDs are scratch proof, right?

What do you expect, you're still emailing when all of us called days ago. If you're lucky you'll get a friendly rep that will change the price for you.

Or, he could check the HD sale/trade thread where I know there's one available. I have it on good authority that it can be had pretty easily.

I bought S3 at Circuit City when it was going out and it had the box on it. I didn't know they discountinued the box so I guess I was lucky to find one with it.
