My first e-mail was sent before my sets even shipped. Shouldn't have been a problem.

Re: Lost: Seasons One and Two on Blu-ray - June 16th, 2009
I've been furiously working my way through all my sets to re-watch the show and I just got to Season 3.
I noticed that there's no SeasonPlay (a godsend) and no DTS-HD
master audio on it. Checked the reviews and it's the same for Season 4.
While the reviewers seem very fond of the PCM and DD 5.1 tracks, I don't think it sounds nearly as good as the DTS-HD master audio did.
I'm assuming since 3 and 4 came out before 1 and 2, that 5 will likely have DTS-HD and SeasonPlay too.
My question is, do you think when they release the complete series that they'll re-do seasons 3 and 4 to include DTS-HD and SeasonPlay that will be found on Season 1, 2, and likely 5 and 6? Or will they not bother and leave 2 seasons different than the rest?
I'm kind of bummed, because the audio was amazing for seasons 1 and 2. Maybe, compared to other shows or movies, seasons 3 and 4 sound really impressive, but I don't think it holds a candle to the DTS-HD.
Thanks.

Well, that's because Disney produced the Season 3 set a couple of years ago, when they were using PCM. Seasons 1 and 2 came just recently, and since then they have switched (briefly) to TrueHD and then to DTS-HD MA. I don't know why you're disappointed with the audio, but all those codecs are lossless. They should sound the same, if the masters used are identical. In any case, if something changed with how the audio was done, it wouldn't be the codec that caused it.
The season play was also added later, and if I'm not mistaken, that's a BD-J thing, isn't it? They weren't using BD-J back then either, IIRC.

There's nothing I can do about it, so that's why I asked in my post if people thought Disney would bother to add Seasonplay and DTS-HD MA to the complete series down the road. I know it's purely a guess, but there are a lot of people here who have a much better idea of what studios might or might not do.
Thanks.

I agree that the DTS-HD Master Audio tracks sound better than the Uncompressed PCM on Season 3 and 4 but all are of very high quality indeed. It would be neat though for Disney to go back and re-do the audio for the complete series set. I'd also love for an option to be given to see The Pilot as one episode and, most especially, the Season 3 finale as it originally aired as the one two-hour episode instead of as two separate parts.

I think the DTS-HD MA is far superior, but that's just me. I also love the seasonplay a lot.
I think as wonderful as it looks and sounds, it's kind of sloppy. Seasons 1, 2,
5, and 6 will likely have the DTS-HD MA and seasonplay. Season 3 and 4 won't. Season 3 has no slipcover, all the other sets will likely have them. Seasons 3 and 4 have episode guides and the other seasons out now don't and probably won't for 5 and 6.
At the end of the day, after spending hours and hours watching seasons 1 and 2 again with amazing sound, I thought the PCM was really a noticeable downgrade and that annoyed me. Maybe if I hadn't watch nearly 36 hours of seasons one and two, with no movies or other tv on BD in between, I wouldn't have noticed it as much. But I really got used to those amazing Season 1 and 2 audio tracks.

It's been a while since I watched season 3 & 4 but the sound in season 1 thus far has blown me away... and I only have a soundbar with a sub.
It sounds incredible, noticeably better than anything else I've watched recently.

Yeah, I thought they did as well. I'm pretty sure this is right.
The audio is the only issue, and even then it's still pretty darn amazing. I would love for the complete series set to have it all in DTS-HD Master Audio though. I really would. I have no idea if they would do such a thing, but that's the kind of thing that would cause me to re-buy the show on Blu-ray all over again.

Did anybody in Canada figure out what was going on with the lack of rebate forms? I never got an email back.

^I'm not sure what the hell is up. I talked to a BV rep (who was in the states despite calling the canadian help number) who wasn't sure why there were no Canadian rebate forms as of yet - but since I had the US rebate forms, she gave me the Canadian address and told me to fill out my US forms and send those in to the Canadian promo and it should be alright - but for someone like you who got NO FORMS AT ALL, this would be no help. Sorry!

The only reason you think the DTS-HD MA tracks sound "better" than the PCM tracks is because DTS jacks up the default volume level. You need to volume match before comparing.
PCM is a 100% identical copy of the studio master. DTS MA is also a 100% identical copy of the studio master, flagged with a higher default volume. That's the only difference between them.
Except of course for the fact that you're watching different episodes that may not be mixed the same as one another.

It keeps track of where you left off on the show. Say you get interrupted in the middle of episode 3, the next time you turn it on it will pick up where you left off.
Basically what some DVD players have been doing for years.

^Yeah - but I find it's great if you don't remember what episode you are on if you take a few days off... especially with no booklet, it's hugely helpful if you can't remember if you're on episode 6 or 7 - you don't have to guess, seasonplay let's you know what episode you should be watching, which you might not remember if you have multiple series/other movies on the go in the meantime.

Interesting tidbit I finished off a disc last night and it brings up some random pictures with questions pertaining to the show and it remains on screen even after you eject the disc. Pop in the next disc and it goes right into the next episode* without hitting the menu -> Season Play.

I'm enjoying the rewatch of Lost - only on the 4th disc on Season 1 though. I want to slowly rewatch these to make the wait for Season 6 not as bad, but it's getting harder to resist watching these more

I recant my previous statement, I finished off disc 3 today and popped in disc 4 and it did not show the ABC & FBI screens. It went straight to the 'previously on' segment.
So you want to skip over the credits to bring up the photo/question screen and then eject to avoid the menu on the next disc altogether.

Do you have to send in both UPCs from the Blu-Ray or just one of them? Thanks!

What do you expect, you're still emailing when all of us called days ago. If you're lucky you'll get a friendly rep that will change the price for you.
