Re: Lost: Seasons One and Two on Blu-ray - June 16th, 2009
Never seen Lost before and just started with Season One, Disc One on my PS3. Damn the start up is annoying with all those trailers and warnings. Then, even though I set up "SeasonPlay", it still makes me sit through all that crap every time I put the disc back in to get to the main menu. I have yet to figure out why the PS3 remembers some discs and not others, but if "SeasonPlay" can't save me all that start-up junk, it is pretty pointless as I can manage to remember the episode I was watching.
Also, at the end of episode 4, it went to this odd pop-up menu "advertising" all the questions that are hanging out there for disc two.......and I couldn't get out of it to get back to the Main Menu. And because there is no booklet, I don't know if there are extras on this disc without starting over...........and sitting through all the start-up crap again.
Other than the navigation issues, the quality ROCKS - sound and picture are unbelievable.

jkzahn,
Season play works fine on the PS3(just finished ep. 21 just now). Disc 1 will always play all the logos, warnings, etc. Once you get past there it's smooth sailing. The screen you got to with the images and questions is a sort of bridge to the next episode. Eject the disc and put in the next disc and you will get the ABC logo and then go right to the menu. Click season play and continue.
Same goes for each disc. Skip past the credits to the picture question screen and then eject and move to the next disc.

I sent out 2 rebates on 6-23-09, mailed separately. One for each season. I got a rebate check today (8-3-09) for one of them mailed on 7-31-09. Let's see if they actually send me the other check. So far with the one check, the 2 seasons will have cost me $23.99 each. If the second check comes, $13.99 each which would be just excellent.

Don't know if it is my PS3, but the discs are still not playing in a user friendly way. Really, it is extremely annoying. Last night, I accidentally hit the stop button while watching an episode on Disc 2.........immediately hit play button again.....it starts me out all the way back at the beginning of the disc again (blu-ray loading screen, copyright screen, disclaimer screen, ABC video screen, main menu, I have to select Season Pass). Same situation if we remove disc to watch another title.
Must be something with how the PS3 plays the software on Buena Vista (I think that is who put these out?) titles. Definitely the worst TV season title I have ever had as far as load process/ memory, and we only watch TV from DVD/BLU.

I got my two rebate checks yesterday. I wasn't 100% sure I'd get them because they were pre-ordered and thus technically outside the required dates of purchase (I included a note with each saying pre-ordering shouldn't disqualify them).
With the price reductions to $34.99, the Amazon deal, the rebates and selling my old SD sets I think these didn't cost me anything; in fact I think I made money (if you don't count what I originally paid for the SD sets). One of my greatest deals of all time.

I was considering picking this up, but I'm gonna hold onto my SDdvds of Lost for now, and buy the inevitable release of the complete series on blu-ray instead.

Yep, I do have the profile set-up for season pass, but it is basically worthless unless it has been so long since I have been on a disc that I can't remember where I was.
Thanks for the JAVA explanation, I am glad most other titles don't use this.

For better or worse, more and more titles are using Java now. Java is required for Bonus View or BD-Live features, among other things. Since Sony has now made access to their BD-Live portal a standard feature, all of their current Blu-rays are Java-enabled. This will only become more common in the future until it is ubiquitous.

I still haven't received my 2nd rebate either... which as with you has caused me to wonder if I accidentally threw it out with all the junk mail.

Finally got my rebates in the mail today! Awesome!
This means I officially spent only $7 per season on BD. This is one of - if not the greatest - deal I have ever received... and for my all time favorite series!
