This appeared in my Gold Box today, so I went ahead and ordered it. I might end up cancelling and going for the UK steelbook (which will hopefully come down a couple of pounds), unless a snazzy US release gets announced.

Hopefully that Swedish set has a US release. I've been wanting to get the Martha's Vineyard book for some time but never got around to it

Probably cause all we're going to get here is a boring "Universal's 100th Anniversary" slip cover...

So they can lure US-based idiots into spending far more money than they normally would on oversized/gimmicky packaging and thus, rake in more profits.

See, I'm the opposite. I imported movies like Falling Down because I despise digibooks and other countries had the standard cases with cover art.

p.s. Has Universal stopped doing that flipper combo disc shit? I'm not buying this if it's one of those.

I don't think Universal has ever done it on a catalog film. The current ones sure but not the oldies.

Jackal was a catalog film and they fucked that up.

Re: Jaws - 8/14/12

I seriously doubt this will be a two-sided combo disc. The new-to-BD titles they've released this year haven't included any of those to my knowledge. If it says combo pack, it should be a regular BD/DVD combo on separate discs.

Oh, I'd love a digibook.....a SteelBook would be nice, but a digibook trumps a SB, IMHO.

Re: Jaws - 8/14/12

I don't buy a ton of these over sized box sets but for a film like Jaws I'd love a version like the Swedish set. At the very least I hope Universal does a digibook release for it.

I'm hoping for just a plain old BR case and maybe a combo set

Same, along with the nice 100th slipcover. Assuming the transfers for the new releases are good, Universal's impressed me with their anniversary promotion this year...i'm hooked!

Just ordered the JAWS Memories from Martha's Vineyard book.... looking forward to reading that. Should be a nice way to lead up to the blu-ray, I'm still surprised they're releasing it so late in the summer.

Re: Jaws - 8/14/12

I've already got the Memories book. It's outstanding and a huge treat if you're a big fan of the movie.
So I have no interest in the Swedish box.
OTOH, although I've pre-ordered the set from Amazon, I will definitely cancel and go with a Digibook if Wal-Mart or Target gets one. I assume it will be Wal-mart since they already seem to have a deal in place with Universal for these kinds of exclusives vis a vis the Mockingbird release.

So far, in terms of packaging at least, I'm very happy that all of these things seem to be sticking to a straight, unmolested use of the original key art. That makes me smile more than anything else. Hopefully the presentation of the film itself will look similarly pure and unfutzed with.

I want a digibook just beacuse I've bought other Universal 100th anniversary releases in their digibook format. But it's not a make-or-break for me...just as long as others don't get exclusive discs. I, too, already have the Martha's Vineyard book (the hardback with a piece of one of the Orca IIs included, as well as short home movies DVD), so while that's a cool Swedish set, it holds little interest for me.

Re: Jaws - 8/14/12

A digibook would be fine with me; otherwise I'll just get the regular case release.

I'm going to be away the week this comes out. Will have to get it when I come back. Hope I don't miss any good release week deals.

Looks like the U.S. may get a digibook release.

Yeah, but how accurate is @UniversalStudiosEnt?

Hmm, never have been a huge fan of digibook, but I may be interested in this. Wonder if it's going to be some kind of exclusive or a general release.
