Ugh. He who hesitates is shocked by the $29.99 sticker price at BestBuy.com. Missed the boat, here.
I'll probably end up ordering the regular blu-ray from my Amazon gold box for $18.96 by the end of the day, instead. I can't justify the extra cost for the packaging no matter how great those ten pages of the digibook are. As for E.T. when that comes out, I'll probably go with the regular edition, too, as we already have the gigantic 3-disc DVD set that came with an amazing making-of book.
Lesson learned, I guess.

I think some reviewers got a look at it before they were asked to trim it down for theater exhibition.

I saw The Shark is Still Working a few years ago with the director in attendance and I remember it was exhausting. They seemed to interview every single person involved with the production and most of them actually didn't have much to say. I watched the cut version last night and it felt a lot more managable.

I heard that the full-length version also focuses on the sequels, is this true? I've been looking for an uncut version online, but there doesn't seem to be one.

Watched this yesterday. It was like the first time I threw on the Alien Blu-ray... just a gorgeous image through and through. Incredible.
I can get one pretty damn easily. In fact, I need to get on that.

Re: Jaws - 8/14/12
I had difficulty finding even the slipcover copy at BB. I went to my local Best Buy and they didn't have any copies left. I called eight stores to avoid wasting gas and none of them had it. I finally called one that was 35 minutes away and they had ONE copy left that was buried underneath some other movies in the Bargain Bin, somebody must have decided not to buy it while at the check-out and just threw it in there. Well, the person I was on the phone with found it and was nice enough to hold onto it until I got there.
Awesome Blu-ray, I'm definitely satisfied with the HD picture and audio. Hopefully the sales motivates Universal to do a better job with upcoming catalog titles, just like they did with Jaws.

Well, "The Shark Is Still Working" was described as a 3 hour long rough cut by Quint in his 2007 review at Ain't It Cool News.
And he says this in that review:
So maybe the cuts were mainly to the "Jawsfest" stuff and not the making-of stuff. How long is that "Jawsfest" section on the Blu-ray?
And he says this in that review:
"Right now, the documentary is not perfect. It’s 3 hours long. Needlessly 3 hours long. The filmmakers take a giant detour around halfway through and make an hour of the film a documentary on Jawsfest. This section is out of place and significantly less interesting. It’s like watching the best, in-depth documentary on the original STAR TREK series and then have it halt to a stop so TREKKIES can play, then for the last 30 minutes goes back to talking about the show again."

I was hoping that there would be a little more info on the sequels. While they are far from perfect, I would have liked to hear about things that happened during those times. Considering we already have "The Making of JAWS", and I really can't see anybody doing anything in depth for the sequels, TSISW would have been a good opportunity to look at the franchise as a whole at some point... maybe the last 1/4 of the doc.

Kinda torn on whether or not to buy the Best Buy Digibook. There's been at least one copy at my local store (according to the online lookup) for the last several days...but even with the Universal coupon it's $26.99+ tax. Not really sure if it's worth the extra money, especially since the regular version (and possibly this one) will eventually get a price drop. Anyone else have the Digibook? Is it really that much better?

It depends if you are a collector or not. If you just want the substance of the movie, the regular edition is fine. I happen to really like Digibooks, so for me, it was worth the extra cash.

Are you a Blu-ray consumer because of the "Technical Spec Value" (Picture Quality, Sound Quality) ?

I complained to Best Buy about the accessibility of the digibook based upon everything we all had to endure.
I got a call from their corporate offices wanting to find out more information. Anything you guys want me to share when I call them back later?

Yes, when I bought the digibook, I tanked the "tell us how we did" survey on the basis of that one shouldn't have to go on a wild goose chase to find a single Blu-ray.
... I thought nothing would come of it until I got a call from a 1-800 number within the past few hours.

My local store has still not received any back stock on the Digibooks.

I was at Best Buy yesterday to buy some titles that were listed on sale in the Sunday ad. None were on the shelf and they didn't seem to keen on going to the back to locate them. But they did have the newest season of Dexter on sale for $19,000. No, that isn't a typo on my part. That is the listed price they had on the shelf. No wonder Best Buy is going under. No Jaws Digibooks either.

My complaints about Best Buy go past the release of Jaws. I just find them to be an extremely unorganized comapny. I always have difficulty finding Blu-ray releases, especially the new releases. There are many times where they're in places they aren't supposed to be or they're all in the back and it takes the employees around 20 minutes to find it. I've gotten used to it though and that's why I usually just order my Blu-rays through Amazon or elsewhere online.

Ended up grabbing the Digibook at my local BB. I was initially reluctant, but I had a few other Universal 100th Anniversary Digibooks that looked lonely on the shelf.

*sigh* I hate it when they do shit like that.
